My husband bought a bag of moldable plastic (melts in hot water) and he's planning to make a cable out of it. I'm so scared that it'll bring out toxins that would be harmful for him, me and our implantation chance. We are doing IVF and we just did an embryo transfer 3 days ago. I'm worried how to tell him these, he's bipolar and we're just recovering from a traumatic year-2017. Definitely I'll tell him my mind later tonight for the sake of this embie inside me now, but I'm worried, I get flashes of memories from his anxiety attacks from last year. Another thing that boggles my mind is why wouldn't he know these hazards? He's a scientist for crying out loud!

He's seeing a therapist and is under medication. Both of us would love to have our baby soon. But I don't know how to tell him about his hobby. I'd appreciate it much for any advice on this issue.

Just say how you said it here. it’s dangerous. If he refuses to stop I recommend you stay somewhere else for the duration of ITV treatment. I honestly be concerned to have a child with someone who you can’t say basic things to. Would he be just as hard to communicate to with his child?
Thanks for this!

I think if something is just moldable in hot water, it is not leaching chemicals. As long as you dont handle it, you should be more than fine.

If you think it is like BPA in water bottles and are concerned for any future IVF treatments, you may have a concern. But sperm is constantly regenerated. Will he need to contribute again? Any any rate, i dont think there is an issue.

What if you discuss this concern with the doctors who are in charge of your IVF?
Thanks for this!

Yeah, I would talk to the doctor and see if it's dangerous for the baby.
Thanks for this!

I have worked with moldable plastic (becomes pliable in hot water) and polymer clay (must be baked to set). The first is quite safe. The second however you need to be careful with because it will in fact emit toxic chemicals if not handled or cooked properly.
Thanks for this!
