Not sure if this is the right place but here goes - I’m on vacation (Hawaii) I know I shouldn’t complain but I’ve come down with the flu and have started to cancel everything I had planned. Tomorrow I’m supposed to go on a boat tour around the island but I’m using the excuse that I shouldn’t infect everybody on the boat - so I’m thinking on not showing up. Now am I being reasonable or am I just trying to runaway. I may end up spending my whole time in paradise watching TV - this is a dilemma. I have to remind you that I’m not young and maybe I should just rest. Thanks

Probably not under Relationships and Communication - possibly health.

If you're concerned about going, you can always excuse yourself to rest.

If you have a flu and throwing up, it’s very wise to not go on
a boat tour. It is hopefully a short type of flu and you’ll be ok soon
Thanks for this!

not something anyone here really can say as to what your motivation and intent is. But I will say that having the flu and not wanting to go out is a legitimate reason. Whether or not you have made that excuse for that reason or you have ulterior motives is a question you have to answer for yourself.
Thanks for this!

Give yourself a day. No point possibly spreading the stuff.

I think it’s a legit reason to cancel.

If you're that sick, I can guarantee getting on a boat won't make it any better.
Thanks for this!

I know it’s Hawaii and I shouldn’t be feeling sorry for myself. However, there is a strange feeling of a walking sort of death that’s come over me. I’ve always been able to rally to a situation and try to make an adventure out of it. This time I failed to really get out there and it’s an eerie sort of paralysis. Too dramatic, probably and I am sick but I just didn’t have any spark this time and I don’t know how to breathe anymore.... peace

When you get sick, you get sick. Be gentle on yourself. It's just a measly virus(I hope and not bacterial because bacterial is really really bad). It's quite a story to tell...went to Hawaii and all I got was this lousy t-shirt as I got stricken down with an ailment while there...type of story.
Thanks for this!

My opinion is to not draw any conclusions about yourself from what you do or what you feel when you are sick.
Thanks for this!

Just being overly dramatic due to a missed opportunity - funny but I’m still trying to impress that invisible somebody 👍
