I end up worrying myself crazy that I end up triggering myself. It's very hard to know who to trust these days and sometimes I worry myself to death that I end up triggering myself. In the end I stay off of the net for a certain amount of days because I'm just so jumpy and scared right now. Fight or Flight reflex.

Last night my body was shaking and it was freaking myself out. Now anytime I find myself worrying or anything, I will stay offline. I want to talk to people, like my friends and family but sometimes I read into things and end up triggering myself.

Does anyone else relate with me? This is all started when I left my abusive ex-boyfriend and I hope it subsides soon.

Hi Amethyst_Stargazer. What do you mean by "triggering" yourself?

That anxiety over being triggered sounds rather concerning since it's obstructing your desire to speak to friends and family, and enjoy time on the internet. Perhaps you could inform who you trust among your friends and family regarding your mental state. That way, they'll err on the side of caution with what they say, and letting that be known would perhaps give you incentive and comfortability to express being triggered if they were to do so.

Was this the first time you've physically reacted that way? Or is that the usual reaction to being triggered? If not, what is?

How long has this been happening for? If it's been a fairly long time, perhaps seeking proffesional help would be beneficial?

And are there specific things that trigger you? What people say? Certain topics? Furthermore, you say you read into things sometimes, what are some examples of you doing so? Again, perhaps these are things you can also tell your trusted friends and family, should you confide in them.
