I knew a kid in school. I was 15-16 at the time so he was 13-14 but he looked a lot smaller. He didn’t talk to anyone. Like when you’d ask him something he’d look at you and walk away. He’d sometimes talk to the teachers and was a good student and on honor roll. He’d have these behavior outbursts every once in awhile but basically he just ignored everyone even when they were talking directly to him

So I looked at his Facebook and he’s got a lot of racist stuff up. He has his own business. He owns a house. He doesn’t seem like the same teenager from before. So idk. Was he legit shy or was he just unhappy being at that school and thought he was better then everyone?

He sounds like a reactionary. Like he was in his own little world.

Some people want to be left alone. Nothing to do with being shy.

When my daughter (very much a social butterfly and opposite of shy) was in a middle school, she literally talked to no one. I had to put her into different high school out of the school district (very cookie cutter main streamed, not her crowd at all). That was a game changer

Racist stuff is not cool. Not sure what’s that about
Thanks for this!

It’s hard to say, to be honest. Could be many reasons.
In my case, I was shy but did try to make an effort, but eventually stopped because, even when asking innocuous questions, I often got looked at like I’d just sprouted a second head - yet, I also heard other kids saying they thought I was stuck up, because I rarely spoke! Vicious circle. I did end up wanting to be left alone too, anyway.
The racist stuff may or may not be anything to do with how he was as a teenager. My dad was racist and had a faux superiority complex, but wasn’t shy at all.
