I have just moved in with my boyfriend after a pretty short time of dating. He is incredibly supportive but I don't want to overburden him. How do I know when to unload and when to stop? Also I am a terrible communicator about this stuff so any tips on how you talk to your partners would be super helpful. Thanks!

What do you think might happen if you were to ask him that question?

Thanks for the question.

I have asked him and basically he has said bring it on. But I don't know if I am ok with that. And also he really doesn't know what he is getting himself into with that statement!

So far I haven't had a major episode, just a few days of depression which has been fine to discuss. Since then he has got on some partners of BP support groups which is all good. I am used to dealing with this on my own and again don't want to put too much of my issues on him. I guess I am just trying to plan for the future.

I am not quite sure what you mean by overburdening him, but assuming you suffer from depression or some other mental ilness, I believe communication is key. You want to be open, but dont overstep your boundaries if youre not comfortable with telling something just yet. Also, openness should work in two directions. If you feel insecure about being too much of a handful, you can talk about that too. It shows you are concerned about his well-being too. And you as a couple can work out how he could tell you things get too much for him.

In general, people within a well-functioning relationship, tend to be very supportive. But please keep working on your issues and occasionally point that out too. Your hard work will make it easier for him.

Edit: I just now see you have already answered yourself.
