My better half has been depressed for a while, and it's gotten to the point where she is leaving because she thinks it'll hurt me less (she knows it hurts me to see her hurting). I've begged her not to, because I worry less if I'm there to make sure I can at least comfort her if she's feeling down. I don't care what happens between us (I do, but her safety and well-being is more important to me), so what should I do to make sure she is all right? I have trouble focusing as is, and if I'm always worrying about how she is doing, I don't think I'll get anything done (not that I get much done anyway, but still). If anyone can offer any advice, that'd be amazing.

Is she in therapy?

If she isn't, if you can give her a resource list of what is available in your area, that would be great. Is there a crisis hot line she can access?

Is she in an unsafe situation? Is she a danger to herself?

Ultimately the best thing you can do is to take good care of yourself. Be a good role model for her. If she is ever a danger to herself please call the police. If you could use some therapy yourself, go for it, this might encourage her to try it also.

You've probably already told her this - you can tell her that you care, you are concerned, you want to help and support her.

Leaving?

Include marraige? Living together? Include children? Financial ties?
