I'm not ready for a relationship yet -- but sometimes I feel sad because I think all the magic of romance is used up for me.
The relationship I was in for 15 years did not have any zing. I traded sexual excitement and fulfillment for kindness and a loving stability. One of my friends has said, "You chewed off parts of your body to have that relationship" (as an animal will chew off a leg to get out of a trap." Now I am a middle-aged woman. And middle-aged men get their zing from younger women. And I just wonder if This Is All There Is. No more zing, no more magic of romance ever again.

CHEESE WHIZ... This depresses me, I gave up both, the zing and the loving part. Life is the pits sometimes!! And I am only in my 30's....
Thank God I have my children, they fill all the holes in my life.

Hi Roxxy -- Thank you for the PM -- I sent one back, or thought I did, but maybe it is lost in virtual space. Thanks for sharing that story with me!

Yes yes and yes! I am 47 and my boyfriend is 57 and I can certainly tell you that there is ZING!!!! We are like two hormonally charged animals when we are around each other (as well as tender and loving and smitten) Neither of us are candidates for "The world's sexiest" from a societal standard but we find each other to be everything we ever dreamed of. I am twice married before and he lost his wife of 36 years to cancer (she was diagnosed with emphysema and continued to smoke 2 packs a day for 10 years more) We were friends thru work and helped each other through very difficult times and then decided to see if there was more to our friendship. He is now and forever will be my destiny. We have the usual growing pains in an intimate relationship but we have vowed to keep the lines of comunication open and working. THAT to me is the key to ZINGING. The less misunderstandings and unresolved issues the more you can enjoy each other. Well we also have tremendous chemistry too. I had no chemistry with my ex and although we tried to make a valiant go of it he was more like my brother than my spouse. I wish you love in YOUR quest for Zing!
Hugs, Tooter (Pam) <font color="purple"> </font>

Of coure there is zing! Well, at least at 50 there sure is lots of zing for me. In fact I never really experienced passion until in my 40s. It all depends on the chemistry between two people, your state of health, state of mind, self esteem, emotional health and body image. If all these bases are covered I think there can be a deeper, more profound passion than couples much younger could ever imagine.
I am in a relationship now with a woman in her 40s and I will tell you it is like being a teenager again. Hell, it is even better than being a teenager. If you want it badly enough the zing will be there.

Does this mean y'all are 55 or older? That would be great! I wouldn't be the 4th oldest person here anymore!

And you know what? I happen to be one that does NOT believe being younger is "winning". I look forward to being older. I hope I get there.
