I have to say LOL to this, Deepblue...I feel much the same.
But also please know, I'm not making light of your reaction and response to this public display of affection. It's very real, and a result of our having experienced hurtful rejection(s). On one level, such public displays are in very bad taste. On another level, it's biological...two people publicly displaying the mating ritual. We are just animals, no more than the lower species in these matters. I no longer even SEE it, to be quite honest. I think it's a matter of attuning oneself to the surroundings, what is important. If I were to meet a "mate" in the future, such behavior would have to be private. Love Patty |

Deepblue,
this is VERY common. You can rest assured that you're not the only person to have these experiences. Walking away might be a good things if it helps. Eventually it would be good to be able to feel happy for them. But remember - many of them will have problems at some point too in any case. Life is rarely completely easy for anyone. |

Yes, it's important to remember that the seemingly "perfect" couple PDA-ing away on the street could be done like dinner within the month...or else their relationship could drag on in pain and agony for years.
We tend to project our own assumptions when we see things that hurt us...perfectly natural (btw I did laugh when you said you throw things are such people, but you really shouldn't do that...you could get in a lot of trouble, and acting out one's anger is never the way to go to help yourself, which is the important thing). As for PDAs, I tend to put the people involved in two categories: those who are too swept in their newfound love to realize that they are offending and annoying others, and those that PDA as much as possible to "show off" their relationship. As for the latter category, I can guarantee you that most of those relationships won't last...people who need to show off how "in love" they are to others usually have a more superficial relationship than they realize, and then will come back on them in the end. |

I don't have to be happy for anyone.. I'd rather see couples fighting and arguing then hugging and kissing which makes me want to puke.. It makes me more depressed to see loving couples because it will remind me of being rejected and will tell me that I will never have a loving relatinship..

I really think you need to work on why you would rather see people unhappy. I understand that misery loves company but couldnt you look at them and think "maybe there is a chance for me. if those people can be happy together, so can I". there is a silver lining in each dark cloud and its a lot easier to look on the happier side of things, even if only for a moment.
I dont really like PDA either except in moderate amts. Like a kiss on the cheek or holding hands. Now when people start making out in the line at krogers....thats kinda sick. But that doesnt mean you have to become so hateful. |
