Hi Everyone

Today I called and left a voice mail to tell my friend who has OCD that I am unable to go to the movies with her on Saturday. The reason I gave is that I don't feel well. Which is true. My doctor has recently switched my medication around so I don't feel well and this also happens to by PMS week which lasts for 10 days straight (HIGH ANXIETY LEVELS). I falsely assumed that I gave her enough notice and that she would understand.

She left a voice mail saying that I cancel all the time on her. Yes, it is true. My anxiety does get in the way of me enjoying life. But she said that I left her high and dry with no one to go to the movie with. Do I seriously have to be responsible for her happiness (excuse my spelling)? I have went to many a movie on my own and handled it just fine. I think she reacted in a childish manner. Surely I am not her only friend and she could find someone else to go to the movie with.

I didnt tell her what my "illness" was on the voice mail due to her recent lack of empathy regarding my anxiety levels...etc.

It's like the whole world revolves around her and if someone fails to come through for her she has a fit.

No it's not your job to keep her happy, but it's good she is expressing displeasure to you, because at least she's being honest,
have you ever considered telling her? do you think she'd be understanding?

That makes it difficult. I'd love to say tell her, but if it means a break in the friendship that's no good.

My only advice would be to talk to her, say sorry, that you weren't feeling well ... maybe ask her another time to show that you do care

I guess just try to show to her that you care by hanging out.
