I have been on Yaz for the past couple months, and have been on other birth control pills for about two years now. Since then, I have been separated from my boyfriend when I moved away to college. We value eachother so much that there is no way we would let the distance kill it like so many others easily do. However, I have been consistenly feeling depressed 3 out of the 4 weeks I'm on Yaz and it has lead to rediculous but intense arguments that are usually caused by my mood swings. My boyfriend remains compassionate and forgiving, even when I say the cruelest things.
I'm honestly sick of switching birth control pills because the ones I've been on have either caused horrible acne breakouts or put me in a constant bad mood with an almost dead sex drive. So, I want to get off of them altogether and go back to the optimistic and laid-back person I was before I got on them. However, I'm going to visit my boyfriend this week and am horribly paranoid of getting pregnant. I know he will never pressure me to do anything I dont want to(he wants to properly plan for kids, too), but I don't want to happen to have a couple of drinks while I'm around him, lose inhibitions, and make a huge mistake. What should I do? |

Well if you're going to have sex you should be on birth control; condoms are smart but the BC is the big protection. Anyways I was prescribed Zovia when I was first on birth control; it doesn't give you crazy side effects unlike what I have heard other say about Yaz. Now Im on the Nuva Ring and I love that even more since I don't take a pill everyday. I'd say tell you're lady doctor all your symptoms and try to find a pill that doesn't make you so upset. If you find a good birth control you won't be paranoid when you have sex which I think is always really stressful. If you can't find a good one though, just get off it. There's no point to let it ruin your mood 75% of the time.
