Pros:
It's working for my son!
Cons:
I bought this book because I wanted to be there for my child when he cried. I didn't want to ignore him or "shh" him. As a child, my needs were ignored. But it was difficult listening to my son cry because I didn't know how to alleviate his pain.
This book is amazing because not only did it help me become a better parent, it helped me resolve a lot of my issues as a child when my needs weren't met. I love being there for my son when he cries. I can look him in the eyes and actually hear him vent his frustrations or hurts. I am able to hold him and pat him on the back to comfort him.
The author promises if you do the parenting techniques she teaches, your child will grow up to be non-violent and will be compassionate and involved in community. I truly believe the author is correct. I've been using these techniques for 2 years and my toddler is not a terrible two. He loves life and others. He shares with other kids and is always laughing. On a regular basis he blows kisses to strangers and kisses photos. He is so sweet.
