Lynn tells of her father and mother’s negative parenting and abuse. She reveals just how her inability to overcome the past continues to control her life, "Pulling her strings" as she mentions several times throughout her book. Lynn Grocott uses the analogy of Pinocchio and how she felt like a puppet all her life, having her strings controlled by firstly her father, to just about every aspect of her life.
