I dont go to any church now. Too painful, and I feel betrayed by my family; they still attend.

The points you made in your blog about how a church SHOULD be, were moving and quite beautiful. Thanks again for sharing your story. I'm so surprised that stuff like that still happens in this day and age.

I'm interested in what behaviors on both the client and therapist's

Boy, I said something about being obsessed with my therapist on Monday and T got all "present". Then I was like, no, not ME, OTHER people on PC, I didn't mean ME! And oh by the way, here's ANOTHER present for you...

My previous t/pdoc, with whom I did miserably (my life got wrecked from top to bottom, left to right) liked to espouse the principle of therapeutic tension, not sure if that's the right technical term, where you don't satisfy a patient so much that she isn't motivated to find satisfaction IRL. Yeah I call that torture and I had enough of that kind of game-playing fRom my family. My current T - it feels like he has let me grow up in his arms. We all worry so much about that day when we will have to leave, but it's like leaving high school or college - it will be time to go, you'll be SO ready!

idk, masimo, you sound like you are still giving T your power when you ask about HIS actions. you either surrender to your husband or you surrender to T, what's the difference? there is no difference; there is no masimo in either case, only what the man wants, what the man says; just a different man saying it. so maybe if you can start to stand up for yourself somehow with T - i'm not sure how - you could eventually build a better relationship with your husband?

I'm not surprised at all, but then IMO organized religion has been the source of an enormous amount of human suffering over the course of human history. The only single source of more misery is greed, again IMO.

Marie, I am sickened by what happened to you & your man. I hope things work out for you. What I didn't understand in all of this was whether he had a family that he left behind? I would think that might make thing harder, overall?

I dont feel I need to stand up for myself with my T. He is teaching me how to stand up for myself with my husband.
