A well known psychology book..
I often see games being played in therapy. Admittedly by me, but also by my therapist. He often runs hot and cold. One week we seem to have a real connection and he lets down his guard. The following week he seems to reign in his feelings, put up the walls and the session turns out to suck! It's like a tennis match, back and forth, from week to week. I set the stage and I want him to play along. Sometimes he does, and sometimes he does not. I've been asking myself over the last month if I'm done with therapy. What brought me to him originally has been dealt with. I stayed as other issues were unearthed. With the transference being the elephant in the room, I'm not sure I need to continue with his services. |

I think you have a good point. Since transference is an issue, I'm not sure it would be good to keep seeing the same therapist. It would be better if you needed therapy to find a different one. Good luck to you.
