Because what if she isn't?

Do you feel weird about getting psychotherapy from a pregnant T? I mean, what if they suddenly get nauseous and have to vomit?

If she looks pregnant she's likely past the stage where she'd have to get up and vomit. (Which BTW not everyone goes through.) And you're right, you can't ask. It'll become fully apparent in time.

I probably wouldn't ask since it seems like too personal of a question, you'll find out soon enough if she is or not

My T was pregnant few weeks when I got into therapy. I was pretty sure about it 3 weeks in, more so bc of her reaction to some maternal topic. Then week 5 of my therapy it was obvious physicaly too and week 6 she told me. It did not really affect our sessions as far as I know and she was just normal T. Now she is on 4 months maternity leave and that is hard. I go back in November.

I make it a rule not to ask a woman if she's pregnant unless there's actually a baby emerging from her at the time. Way too awkward to be wrong.
Thanks for this!

She told me today that she was pregnant. I asked if it was mine and she didn't answer. I wasn't looking at her face so I don't know if she was mad.

I just saw your other thread asking about T as mother --- do you think it may have triggered you to hear she was pregnant?

No, I have always thought that way, my Ts have been my father/mother figures for a while now.
Thanks for this!

I think it's kind of funny/surprising (bet you were the only client to react that way) Surely not offensive.

sorry; I was thinking more ... do you think the comment you made to your T about

was connected with being upset because you view her as a mother figure - and now she is pregnant

I was somewhat upset when she told me she was pregnant, because somewhere in the back of my mind I was hoping we could start a relationship, and her pregnancy must mean that she is already spoken for. Or maybe the pregnancy just highlights how her personal life is very separate from what she does with me.
Thanks for this!
