I can't help thinking that we fall for these guys because they know the deepest darkest corners of our minds, they know us better than anyone warts and all and yet they still remain entirely on our side. It's like the ultimate acceptance of who we are.
Then I think we fall for them because they are just so darn gorgeous.

...then I just give up thinking.

I get stuck on the Unconditional Positive Regard (it's all a facade) but damn it feels so good.
Thanks for this!

Does that even exist? If someone pulled out a machete and put it to a T's neck, I'd like to see their unconditional positive regard then. T's merely have a stronger breaking point, and that's because it's their job.

I don't know, I think it's part of their character, the reason they chose to be T's. Machetes aside I think they have that built in ability. Well the good ones at least.
Of course it could just be wishful thinking..

They are trained to not be judgemental, but they don't necessarily hold all clients in positive regard. They just hold some in more of a neutral regard. There are plenty of people who are difficult or even undesirable to some Ts, but they are still entitled to receive help. That seems like the most difficult part of the job to me.

I agree that unconditional positive regard is wonderful, and especially after owning up to some of my worst character defects. My t often reminds me not to be so judgmental of myself, what a concept They are also wonderful listeners, and it feels good to be heard!

Just popping in here!

I don't believe they have unconditional positive regard for anyone, I mean , I don't even think that's possible. I do think that yes, they are trained to be positive and nonjudgmental...but I ALSO stand firm it saying that it takes a REALLY special type of person to get in to this field of work. And I think the good ones , really are some of the best people you'll ever meet. And I think that's why we tend to feel the way we do about them.

Is this one of those "you know you have erotic transference when" -- You refer to his warts as "love bumps".
