The psychiatrist who sexually exploited me also convinced me that he should manage a large amount of my money. Of course, I never got it back. I met one other person that had this happen. Has it happened ..or is it happening to you?

Is a T helping you manage your finances?

That is horrible. I am so sorry that happened to you. Never had a T do anything like this to me, thankfully.

I did once have a driving instructor who asked if I wanted to sell Amway products with him. Pyramid Scheme? No thanks!
Thanks for this!

He knew I had put 5K aside. He said to let him help me...to trust him. He said he was afraid I'd spend it all. Ha.

I was so stupid!

I'm so sorry that happened to you. I'm actually surprised more Ts dont try this (and its on HIM not you) because they are in a position to know about client finances. The fact that its not common may be a testament to their ethics overall. Your T was a predator.
Thanks for this!

This is horrifying and I'm sorry you were exploited like this. Unless a T is also a CFA, they have no business offering any financial advice to anyone. Ts only know what clients tell them about finances. Otherwise, they are not privy to any financial information beyond what they get paid. This T was a predator in the worst way.
Thanks for this!

No, but I'm not legally allowed to handle my own money. I did have a certain family member make hundreds of dollars magically disappear, though.

Nothing nearly as bad as what happened to you, but I had a therapist bill my insurance for many sessions that we never had and when I found out about it, I felt VERY betrayed and didn't know what to do.

I had a T that filed their own insurance claims. Then they would say the claim didn't go through, or say my card paid late. Let's say we saw her on Tues, well 2 Friday's from now, my card would register payment. It was real sketchy!
