I recently began treatment for heroin addiction. I've been going to a local methadone clinic, where if you join the program through the states medical insurance you are required to see a drug counselor four times a month. I have fallen in love with my drug counselor which has caused me some serious psychological and emotional issues, because I feel we could never be together. I had some serious depression for a few weeks, that had somewhat gone away ever since I realized I was depressed, (first time experiencing this condition) I really do not know if I should stop seeing her or not. I recently have found out that I may be a victim of emotional hunger from my parents, which has caused me to fantasize about my counselor and fall in love with her. I am on her today after doing some research and after today's session, I feel she may be sending me mixed signals.

I would vote for none of the above. You say she's sending you mixed signals but in the absence of details, I don't know if you might be reading into her care as romantic interest? Maybe raise these feelings with her, and it might be particularly pertinent to mention how you think those feelings relate to your childhood. She may be able to help you work through these feelings really productively. If she is unable to help with those issues you could look for another counsellor, but give her a chance first.
It's also important you remember nothing could ever happen between you and her, but fantasy on your part is ok.
Thanks for this!
