Thank you all again so much!

We pressed for a dialysis yesterday, just to give her body a chance without all the meds in it. They only gave her 1/2 pressure which is gentle, and scheduled another for today.
If mom does not come around cognitively at all, then I will have to press my sister to agree to pull all tubes and assistance from mom. She is breathing on her own, heart rate, blood pressure and all good... with nose oxygen, and feeding tube. But this isn't what she would want to the end; it's only because of the meds that shocked her kidneys. If they don't return today, then I see no reason to give any support at all.

This isn't a tough decision, but the right thing to do. It is heart-wrenching because it's mom. You know. But she is a Christian, and will go home and finally be well.

I printed out a picture of mom and dad, the last one I took of them together, dad's birthday. I printed across the top Together Again: (mom ) and (dad.) And on the bottom I printed the name of "their " song : Till the End of Time. I'll display it at the service for her.

Pray for unity. By the way, your prayers are doing great, as the dialysis try was the first thing this family has totally agreed upon in many years.

Pray that if mom doesn't return OBVIOUSLY today, that when we pull assistance, that she will pass quickly. They are hounding us to place her in a step down facility to let her die. We don't want to move her again unless it's to home. Hospice is balking at 24/7 in the home, but I'm pressing for it or nothing. So I wish mom would pass in hospital, if she's not getting a miracle of healing.

Please post. I gain strength from each one I read.

The results from the first dialysis were not encouraging. We canceled the second, and I'm having issues with that (second guessing just now.) We signed her into hospice. They will keep her "in hospital hospice" tonight and maybe tomorrow. Maybe move her on Monday, if she makes it. I hope she lingers until Monday, as family is on their way now. This is much harder for me than for my dad, but then my brothers did nearly everything.

We've begun telling her she's going home. Of course, she has to be thinking earthly home, we're talking heavenly. Once all the meds and such are stopped, she'll have oxygen and morphine only. So she won't be hearing us in the least as she passes.

Sky...

I hope this isn't to bold of me to say....

Just from my Nursing experience working with patients on Hospice and Comfort Care....

The Morphine will be excellent for any pain she may have, but can I offer a suggestion....

A lot of times, as people pass, there body (physiologically) will fight it and they can develop a lot of muscle tension and spasming. I've found it very useful to have an order for some IV Ativan, 1-2mg every 2-4 hours as needed, for my patients who are in the process of passing on. The ativan will help with any muscle rigidity/spasming that the morphine will not treat.

She may not need it, but it could help her rest more comfortably until her time comes.

Just a thought....Take Care

(((Sky)))
Just dropping by to say I'm thinking of you and your Mom and all your family. She is truly blessed to have all of you taking such wonderful care of her.
Mom may not be able to respond to your being there, but I think she knows and feels your loving touch and comforting voice, such a caring gift you give her. I think the experience is very meaningful to both of you.
Thanks for this!

Sky,
I'm thinking of you and your family. Your mother is blessed to have a daughter who keeps her wishes and dignity in mind in the midst of such an emotionally-charged time.

Take care,

gg

Mom passed at 3:30 pm. (Which is the exact time that I think I shared with some of you, about my dreaming months ago that she passed at 3:30 pm.)

She is at peace, and not suffering. At 89 1/2 she done good!

Thank you for your prayers. Please pray for the family that no anger will arise during our grieving process, as can sometimes occur.

You guys are great! Thanks for your continued support in this time of my life.

Jean

Just sneaking in to let you know that I care, and read through what you have been going through these last several days. Also that you have been in my prayers all this time.
