I've been dreaming about a pilgrimage, of sorts, for a while now. I consider myself a Christian, but I also follow All Faith, the belief that there is no wrong way to connect with the divine. I think we all need to find what rings true to our soul. There's a temple in North Carolina called the Lotus Shrine, built by H.H. Swami Satchidananda (Youtube him, he was an amazing speaker!) It has 14 shrines to pray at. 12 for the 12 major world religions, 1 shrine for every other religion that doesn't have its own shrine, and the last shrine is for all religions that have yet to be discovered. The beauty of the shrine and the huge plot of land its on cannot be expressed in words.
I know I'm meant for something big in this area. I've been ignoring and denying it for a long time, but God has told me its finally time to go out in the world and find myself, to find Him and learn about all the religions I can. I've never travelled much, I will be alone for this trip and I will probably be hitchhiking the entire way across the U.S., so I'm kind of freaking out. I will have money saved up for food and emergencies, so the only other concern will be finding a place to sleep . Truth be told, I'm not even sure why I'm posting this, but if you just keep me in your prayers, I know that will help. Has anyone here ever travelled cross country? Any tips, suggestions, things to keep in mind would be appreciated. I'm scared, but I'm excited. Big Guy keeps telling me not to worry, and I know He will be walking every step with me. |

Definitely. Though, ironically, the hitchhiking is the least of my fears. Unfortunately, it gets a bad rap, but its not as dangerous as people think. We always hear of hitchhiking gone wrong, people missing, but there's never a reason to hear the good stories. Made it to the destination, end of story.

You are taking a risk. Is the risk worth it? You feelings are quite expected and normal. I have hitched hiked and picked up hitch hikers in my day. Hitch hiking is common on the Navajo Reservation.

Sequoia...well wishes to you. May your pilgrimage go well. I have not travelled cross-country though I have always longed to do so. I feel the east coast calling me. One day, one day...
