I thought about putting this in the Women's forum, but decided that would be cisnormative (non transgender-inclusive) since not all women menstruate and not all individuals who menstruate are women.
I've been hearing more and more about individuals turning their periods into a spiritual experience. The idea is that menstruation is a beautiful aspect of nature reflecting the natural cycles of life, mirroring the cycles of the moon, etc. I've always hated my period, but I'm open to trying to put a positive spin on it by taking the time to honor my body and its natural processes. Does anyone else see their period as a sacred/spiritual experience? How do you honor it? Any thoughts and ideas are welcome, provided that they are respectful. |

i had to have an operation to stop my periods because they were soo bad. i had endrometriosis. i would hemmorage soo bad when i got them, i used to hallucinate about religious stuff and have apparition like stuff happen. i would be in bed for weeks on end and was just unfunctionable alot. the cramps were unbelievable. so yes i do think there is some type of spiritual aspect when we get our periods. i would also have auditory things happen, like angels singing, or even seeing saints and such. i still see and hear things sometimes but i think that is just from my illness of schitzophrenia, which i think may have been a reason for the bad periods too.
