Meds were making me worse, so I stopped taking them. My mom said why don't you ask God for help, pray. I listened, for once, and I have felt much less anxious and less depressed ever since. I'm still feeling a little anxious but not out of control, head going to explode anxious, and sad, but not deeply sad like I was feeling. Prayer has really helped me neutralize my feelings.

I think I need to get back into church and start focusing less on myself and more how I can better the world, and other's lives. Like yesterday I repaid $180 of a $480 personal loan from my mom's boyfriend, I signed up for insurance (auto), and today I put $50 toward Thanksgiving groceries, easing the burden on my mom and her guy slightly.

I may have a job starting next Monday. I'll know for sure tomorrow, which is good because I need a little time to grieve my 3rd divorce. Today the papers were signed by us both. Tomorrow may be a big day for me, it may be really over. My car is running again, well I might add. I now have a little time to gather some down payment money, build up my credit a bit. Trade it in and get something I really like.

Hi Aviza,

I cannot say whether stopping your meds is a good idea, but by your own actions - fortified by your Beliefs - you are turning your life around and changing your Mindset. This is wonderful.

I sincerely hope these improvements continue for a long time, but should the Anxiety start creeping back and you feel the need for a booster med, do not look on it as any sort of failure, even a Spiritual lifestyle and mindset needs support at times.

Dave.

I have paradoxical reactions to medications especially if they have synthetic fillers... keep this term in mind if you take a medicine again and it has the reverse reaction.

Good for you! God made this body to heal itself.... and our minds need to tell our brains to do that (the brain has no opinion or action on it's own, but operates by what our mind tells it through our thoughts and words.

There are many good authors promoting this intensely now... my favorite is Dr Caroline Leaf-- her books are awesome as she writes as a scientist on a layman's level of comprehension. (Martin Seligman PhD has been doing studies for eons about positive psychology and it's healing effects.)

be sure your MD knows you are off the medications and keep him/her informed of your progress. I think you're on a good track. Remember, you will have set backs of a day or so where you fall down but keep with the positive thoughts of how good you feel now, and you'll climb out more quickly each time.

I'm glad prayer is working for you. I agree with JD about letting your doctor know you have quit taking your meds. I hope thinks continue to go well for you.

I'm glad that you are doing well but be careful when you stop taking your meds. I've tried that and it didn't work. Please watch yourself carefully.

Prayer can be pretty powerful. Please stop medications under medical supervision as many need to be tapered off of.

Assuming you are Christian, I would recommend the book "Unshakable" by John Eckhart,,,,he has so many great things to say about the recovery from mental health issues the spiritual way, awesome book that comes in print and kindle formats...

I can very much relate to this. When we are feeling anxious and helpless, prayer is a very helpful thing to turn to. I'm so glad you have found it.

God is indeed more powerful than meds. He answers prayers. I hope your job works out.
