Oo, me me me! Is anyone a Buddist? sorry, kinda hyper right now... Is anyone a Buddist?

I'm not an expert by any means. I do feel like I've gained a great deal from Buddhist teachings, though, and would love to have discussions about Buddhism!

Anything in particular you wanna talk about?

Oh, and I'd recommend checking out any books you can find by Thich Nhat Hahn. He is a Buddhist monk who has a knack for explaining difficult abstract concepts within Buddhism in words that are easy to understand & making them applicable to everyday life. "No Death, No Fear" is one of my favorite books of all time.

I wouldn't exactly say I'm completely buddhist, however I do read alot of the teachings and have practised meditation at the local buddhist center a few times.

I'm with you gtrplayer, Siddhartha is one of my very favorites. While I do not consider myself to be a Buddhist, I have taken meditation classes from a Buddhist woman and have studied it's philosophy. It's a beautiful way to live. They have such a respect for all living things and believe that if you cannot help, at least do no harm. Another really great thing about Buddhism and unlike many religions, is that you do not have to be exclusive to that belief system - it encourages exploration, discovery and growth. Many blessings on your respective journeys. Etheria

I've been a practicing buddhist since I was about 15. It can really be beneficial for many psychiatric problems...and may cause of relief of dukkha (suffering). Buddhist primary is based on four precepts, or the four noble truths...1. Life is dukkha(suffering). And suffering comes from craving...to stop this process you need to practice and live life in the eightfold path...its kinda like rules to help have a guideline for reaching nirvana. Meditation is key, along with mantras these are like prayers but more or less like sounds that are said while focusing on your breath. My favorite kind of meditation is one with nature meditation. I'm somewhat knowledgable in this area because I have a huge obbsession with living zen, and love to be up to date and informed in this. So if you ever need any questions answered or need a better understanding I would like to help..I have difficulty making friends and being talkative and social most of the times but these forums seem like I feel comfortable more than usual..I have the desire to socialy interact but have problems due to my aspie's...but I'm here. Nama'ste.

I am not strictly a Buddhist but I am interested in learning more. Would anyone like to be in a social group so we can discuss Buddhism because we are very limited in this forum

Siddhartha has great quotes and theories, my favorites are Shunryu Suzuki and of course his holiness the dalai lama.

Just a suggestion, a book to download called "Mastering the Core Teachings of the Buddha" -

http://integrateddaniel.info/book/

It is the kind of book you would benefit most from if you value getting results in your own life.
Thanks for this!

I lean very strongly towards Buddhist thought although I don't label myself Buddhist because my beliefs are very wide and go beyond the traditional Buddhist stance (i.e I believe firmly in more than this material world). But I would be interested in a Buddhist group and being able to chat and exchange thoughts and beliefs. There defintiely doesn't seem to be many people around here who have an interest in Buddhism. I have a lot of Buddhist sayings around my bedroom and try to live my life according to their principles.

I can do that I asked Costello about this too. She isn't Buddhist either but she knows a lot more about it than I do. I don't know much myself and I'm really wary of organized religion so I can't say I want to be a Buddhist but it seems to be the most peaceful and have the most potential for real, true spiritual growth.
Thanks for this!

I've explored all sorts of religions, including Buddhism. I have to say that I think it's just a generic "fix". That said, I hope you find the peace you are seeking. Buddhism not for me.

We only have nine people. Is no one else interested in Buddhism?

Would you have me?

Tho I am not Buddhist, I do have a lot of similar beliefs. I have sort of came to my own blend but I don't have anyone to talk to about this stuff really at all.. Buddhism and Hinduism would be the closest I relate to. I do have knowledge of Buddhism as I have learned some from some of my relatives. But I also have some questions that recently came into my life.
