I am not Christian yet I find the hallowed ground of some churchy spaces to be incredibly moving. I recently visited a church in my neighbourhood (I was dropping off clothes for a community clothing give away) where I took a peek around. I discovered the most beautiful stained glass inside the sanctuary which left me stunned with awe. No, not the subject matter as much as the feeling of a sense of a more generalised spirituality and my own belief in the Creator.. Even though not my path I could feel and accept that the space was special - and very dear to those who attend. I have visited massive cathedrals in Europe that have been some of the most spiritual and thought provoking spaces I have ever been to.
