I've been told by "readers" that I have had to overcome a lot of negative karma from past lifetimes.
I have dealt with more crap than most average people.... many abusive relationships, many abusive bosses, crisis after crisis, and multiple setbacks in life.... it's been one challenge after another after another for MANY MANY YEARS. I was also told that at this point in my life, I have overcome my negative karma because of the good things I am doing in the world. I am most disturbed by the fact that our soul in this lifetime can be impacted by the actions of your soul in a totally separate lifetime... and that you have to pay for their sins and mistakes and climb upwards from wherever you are on the karmic ladder. I am really upset that my life has been designed because of negative karma, if I choose to believe these readers. And I do choose to believe in the laws of karma. Do people here believe in Karma? Good and bad? And why?

Well it depends on your belief. Those readers can’t really tell you what to believe. If you believe in reincarnation and such then I guess it’s possible that’s what happened in regards to karma. But if one doesn’t believe, then who cares who says what about past lives. I’d not let myself be upset over what some readers say who don’t even know you. These readers told you so many different things over the years. Does it help you to improve your life? If not, and instead it just upsets you, maybe you can take a break from readers. The last thing you need is to be upset about past lives instead of improving current life.

After years of many different abuse situations arising for me, one after another after another, and after years of seriously bad luck and multiple setbacks, I questioned my karma... it felt like the universe was against me being happy and against me progressing and succeeding in life. I seriously felt cursed; no matter how hard I tried to make everything better, it wouldn't get better. I wanted answers, so I looked to readers for answers. And one told me that I had negative karma from another lifetime to overcome. I do believe in reincarnation and in souls coming back to the planet in order to continue the soul's journey and growth. So the notion of negative karma does ring true for me. I was just curious if anyone else here feels they have negative karma and/or a feeling that the universe has been working against their best efforts.

Whenever I feel that something is very bad I always think it could be worse. Then things don’t look as bad.
I know two young people with usher syndrome. Losing eye sight and hearing over time and becoming deaf and blind. They are already deaf, blindness comes. next. I know people with tbi, lost their speech and ability to walk. You could be living in a war zone or starve in famine in a desert. See, it could be much worse. Every time you think it’s bad, think how BAD it could really be. Then it’s not looking as drastic. Just my take on it. Sorry no help from me about karma, I don’t believe in such a thing I am not saying you shouldn’t believe in things, but try to look at uplifting hopeful messages, not something depressing you have no control over like past lives |

Yes, it's easy to drown in one's own sorrows - I always appreciate perspective. Thing is. many, if not most, people have challenges and difficulties to overcome. We all have our own unique set of challenges to overcome. I do not compare, but I certainly can feel gratitude for all that I do have which are blessings in my life. Thank you for the reminder to maintain perspective and to be mindful of the blessings. ![]()

Personally, I don't think karma is there to imprison us in our present lives. I think it's there to teach us things about ourselves. For example, I have a serious mental illness. I could look at that in two ways. One of the ways would be looking at it negatively like it's a curse. It is a curse in some ways, truthfully. But I could also look at it as an opportunity to learn more about myself and about the world. It's never been helpful for me to look at my mental illness as a curse, thus. I look at it as an event. It's an event that changed my life. I get to decide whether I look at it in a positive or negative way. I can also choose to see it neutrally.

![]() I have been a proponent of positive thinking and of choosing positive thoughts over negative thoughts, yet when I am depressed, everything is colored far more negatively. It's like a dark blanket clouds my entire perspective. And I am currently depressed. When I am feeling better, I see all the positives, and I see that I do have a choice in how I view my life. Interesting how depression works that way. I keep trying to also see all the amazing aspects of my life too. I mean, I've traveled the world and have lived in four different counties. I've lived all over the US in various states, and I've done some amazing things. But I've also had a very very hard life too. So it's like I have polar opposites going on and right now, all I see is the hardship.
