I went in for a breast exam because I found a lump. I had a cyst before, quite a few years ago, so I figured he could just drain it and I could be on my way.

The news isn't good. He thinks it's cancer, and it's a lot bigger than I thought it was. Prior to the exam, he completely agreed with my theory that it was a cyst. After he examined it, he looked at me sternly and said "Kathy, this is cancer." He tried to drain it, but nothing came out. Prayer Request

I'm going to see a surgeon on Thursday. It's still possible it's a cyst (maybe he hit the wrong spot), but my doc says it's highly unlikely. Prayer Request

I'd be grateful if you would keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks ((MentalPolution and Chocolatelover)). My husband is very worried.

I said in another thread I was sitting at the station waiting for the train to arrive (in reference to my life with amyloidosis), and wondering why the train was so late (why I'm still here). I guess this means I'm supposed to take the bus. Prayer Request

Kathy,
My thoughts and prayers are with you, as you face this trying time. I will be praying that all will work out and if indeed it is cancer that you will be healed. I think that word strikes more fear into the hearts and minds of people more than anything else. I will ask God to be with you on this journey and to give you strength, peace, understanding and wisdom. And for Him to protect you from this illness and to heal you, both mind and body, and give you comfort. May God Bless You.

I am hoping someone can help me, or at least understand me.

Thanks ((everyone)) Prayer Request

I'm not afraid. It's my husband (and son) I'm worried about most because he doesn't want to lose me (we're very close). He's very upset. I haven't said anything to my son and won't until he gets back from his deployment to the Middle East.

I'll accept whatever the outcome because it's just a part of life. I was TERRIFIED when I was told I had familial amyloidosis 12 years ago. There is no treatment available for my type of amylodiosis. All I can do is lay down and take the blows from the illness - day after day, year after year.

At least this will be an enemy (illness) I can fight with weapons (treatment).

I saw the surgeon this morning. ALL CLEAR, and NO knives! It was just a cyst, and he was able to drain most of it out using a needle and ultrasound. Only a small spot remains, and he highly suspects it's just me.

I'll have a mammogram to confirm this, but he told me to go ahead and smack my doc upside the head for scaring my husband and friends. Prayer Request

Thank you all so much for your prayers and concern. Prayer Request
