2hope: I am always uncertain what to share as a minister's wife about things that have been deeply hurtful, because I would not want to turn anyone off having a wonderful relationship with the Lord or to joining a church.

I would expect that being a pastor's wife you also have expectations placed upon your role that can be difficult to live up to, such as always being understanding, or forgiving, or charitable. Politician's wives, the boss's wife, the doctor's wife -- all of these roles will come with a host of associated expectations. Offline, you may find yourself having to hide or discount your feelings but the online environment may allow you a place to safely vent and share them. This can be useful both for yourself and for others, who hadn't considered that individuals in your particular role might feel the way you do.

However, in order to have the freedom to do so it will be helpful to maintain your anonymity. As a general rule it's best to use a pseudynom and not share personal details or pictures that could identify you. Naturally, people form friendships in the online environment and may want to share that information with the people they trust. In those cases, it's often better to share in a private venue as opposed to a public one. If you require more information, check out the following links:

If I haven't answered anybody that has replied individually, please don't be offended.

Sometimes, responding to everyone individually is simply not possible. Meantime, if you managed to find this discussion again, I think it's safe to assume you'll be able to find the discussion areas devoted to topics such as depression and eating disorders. No doubt, you'll find plenty of others who have some wise words for you and be able to share your own with others.

Thanks SE. I went and changed some of my profile info. I noticed most people on the profiles filled out very little. Hope isn't my real name. Is Anybody Here the Spouse of a Pastor? Associate Pastor?

Good to know, 2hope. It's just a good way of taking care of yourself in the online environment.

I hope you enjoy your time at psychcentral and find the hope you're looking for. Is Anybody Here the Spouse of a Pastor? Associate Pastor?
