When I was 26, I took a walk with my best friend out in the woods where we used to party as teenagers, and where I used to ride horses. She was in the final stages of cancer, but still had enough energy and desire to get outside.

It was a beautiful autumn day. As we walked along the horse trail, my friend stopped to pick up a red leaf. She stood there for the longest time, admiring the intricacy and beauty of that leaf.

I realized at that moment I had been trudging through life, focused only on the goal, and not taking the time to appreciate the beauty around me.

I suspect my friend was saying goodbye to that leaf. She never got to see another one. She was hospitalized and died the following spring.

The next time you're bored and have nothing to do, I suggest you search for the most grotesque bug or critter you can find - and see if you can find "Waldo" (it's beauty). Then you can try to find Waldo in people and the rest of the world around you.

Who knows - you might fall in love with bugs, though I'm sure you'd prefer human beings. is it hard to look for love in this looking glass world?

What a wonderfull excercise in "seeing" the universe about you Kathy.

Waldo is, indeed, everywhere...

Thank you.

I enjoyed that story too, stig. I think it's helpful to be able to see some beauty during the most difficult of times even if Life doesn't feel beautiful to us all (or most) of the time.

Meantime, you may be able to find additional support in the Depression or Psychosis discussion topics.

Looking around i can see lovers, lost in a world that's all their own

Though people say love is everywhere,

I'm looking for love, but it's just not there

[these lyrics are found on http://www.songlyrics.com]

I live my live growing from day to day

Hoping i'll fined someone who cares

Though people say love is everywhere,

I'm looking for love, but it's just not there

I'm looking for love, but it's just not there

I do believe the key is...'...I live my life growing from day to day....'

Each day we grow, the world grows, and in the right time and place, the 2 growths find a happy medium......... is it hard to look for love in this looking glass world?
