If you dont mind.

My friends son had an appt today with a pediatric cardiologist. He's been having some problems with his heart. He is 12 yrs old. And a fine young man. The cardiologist said that his mitral valve is bigger than what it should be for his heart size. They are going to have him wear a recorder for 6 weeks. Hopefully his heart size will grow to accomodate the size of the mitral valve. His body is growing fast.. but they are having him keep up with his activities and drinking lots of Gatorade.. Somehow that Gatorade is supposed to aid in expediting his growth. If not they will have to do surgery. So please keep him in your thoughts if you will. Thanks.

The second thing. My husbands work is in contract right now. The contract itself ends tonight at midnight. They vote on another one tomorrow night. If this doesnt pass.. they will most likely go in lockdown. The new one they are bringing to the table is ok basically except for one part. They are saying that if any new orders under a new number come in whomever is put on that line.. has to take a $5 paycut. This will also happen if you get laid off .. if you get called back you get the $5 paycut. We are prepared to get rid of the car we are making payments on .. I totally understand if that needs to be ( even though I will miss it) But things will still be horribly tight on that drastic of a paycut. Also one of the managers at hubby's work, had been asked by GM , Ford and Diamler Chrysler if they had a 3 month bank of parts in case of a lockdown. The manager said yes they did... come to find out they did not. So now the three auto makers are threatening to take their business to other places. We are really worried about everything that is going on. The takevoer by this new company has been awful. Just one thing after another.

We'd appreciate it if you could keep us in your thoughts .

Thanks,
Beth

Thanks everyone... Will know more tonight after they vote. That will be around 5pm. I'm trying to stay as positive as I possibly can for both of us. Needless to say he is feeling very stressed right now. He's got 14 yrs in there and really doesnt want to have to start over. I dont blame him. Please continue to send your thoughts prayers and good vibes along. We appreciate it so much.

And thank you very much for your thoughts and good wishes for my friends son.

He just left to go vote. I didnt know this.. he probably didnt want to worry me all day about it. But its not looking good. They( the union) got a letter by their stations saying they will probably vote it down and if that happens then they will have a lockdown. Kongsberg already has people hired to take over thru People Link. And to be escorted in by police. The union is not striking... the company is just locking them out. So from what we know.. ( and I had previously heard different) is that we will be able to get unemployment benefits since its the company doing this and not a strike by the workers. UGH.. either way.. its just upsetting.

I hope it goes well for you all. My brother just retired yesterday after working for first Eastern Airlines (he had 22 years and lost all his pension) and now American Airlines for another zillion years....and after nearly 40 years of working he has barely one pension. Thank you Sky.. sorry to hear bout your brother.

Its been over 3 hrs since he left... and I haven't heard a peep from him. I tried calling.. but he must have it shut off. So tired of companies doing this stuff to the people who DO Want to work and have been good workers like my husband. Always on time, never missed a day unless it was a death or for one of my surgeries.. even when he is sick he doesnt miss work. Why do they treat these people like this? UGH!!!!!!

OK.. I just heard from him.. The voting is over. And they voted the contract down. The Union said that they need to come in regular time .. they may have the doors open.. and then again they may have the lockdown. But they are to show up regardless just in case. He was going to come home to eat but they had so many people turn up that there is no way to get out of the parking lot. Its parked full. By the time he gets home and eats he'llhave to go right back. So he said he'll just eat over there somewhere. So YAY no cooking tonight lol At least one good thing is going lol. So I will know around 10:30 if he comes home.. if they did do a lockdown as promised. This just really feels like our whole life is up in the air right now. And we dont know where we will fall . A very scarey place to be. His job has never gone into a lockdown before. ITs always gone thru. But I totally understand why they voted it down. Had I been in their place I would have too. That much of a paycut really affects your way of life. We've been thru layoffs. So I think we can make it thru this too. Its just the uncertainty of it all.

Thanks to all of you for your support. We truely do appreciate it very much.

Thank you Sabbywabbywoohoo Keep 'em comin lol

They are in lockdown now. Benefits frozen. And they said that they will try to deny unemployment too. Dont know if they actually can do that or not. They will start the new workers tomorrow for first shift. A couple things we need prayer for.... A couple things we need prayer for.... A couple things we need prayer for.... Ohhh.. and no union people are allowed on the premisis. So they will mail checks out I guess. I'm sorry.. this is just bull to me.

Awwww Gosh thank you guys!!! I appreciate it so much!

Well I got home from therapy and hubby was on the phone with the union . They are starting to picket now. He has to take the 3am -7am shift for that. And of course its gonna rain and be cold out there. GO figure. Neither one of us slept to well last night. He kept having bad dreams and waking up and then he'd get hot then cold and just couldnt get to sleep. Just wish this would be overwith. I gotta get online and fill in the unemployment stuff out for him. He doesnt understand how to do that stuff very well. But .. We are still laughin and still smilin.. I guess thats what counts right now.

(((((((Bethy & Tom)))))))

I know how fickle the automotive business is. I too worked in a factory that supplied GM, Ford, and Chrysler to 10 yrs and my hubby still does to this day. Things change at the drop of a hat. So try to stay positive. Hopefully this will all be over with quickly.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers sweetie!

Thank You (((((( WENDY)))))) and ((((( RERUN)))))) Everyones support has just meant so much here. My husband is just becoming more exhausted by what is going on. If I knew we had medical insurance yet.. I'd make him an appt to see the doctor for something to help him sleep. And him not doing well is making me more worried for him also.

Picketing last night was cold and rainy. But the union got a burning permit.. so they were able to bring out a barrel to put a fire in there for some warmth. There were workers from other factories down the road in the industrial park that were bringing union memmbers food and coffee and other beverages. Even other unions have come in for support too. We are starting to think that the company doesnt know what they are dealing with. And to boot.. they have hired security guards/and police to guard the place. If they are spending that much money on security.. why cant they spend it on these workeres salaries? The big 3 automakers are really threatening to pull out their accounts now. The lawyer for the company showed up at 5:30 am this morning.. so who knows what that is about for sure. They do have scabs in there working for $9.00 an hour now. Still busing them over from the fairgrounds. A certain politician who is campaigning for president is supposed to be in the area over the weekend. He's been told about this situation and will probably be showing up. I think this could be a good thing. Bringing attention to the company will possibly push them to do deal with this in a positive way. WE hope.

There is more going on. I just cant get into it right now. Just dont know if the company will close altogether or not.
