whom do you pray to? Why?

When you worship your god/God, how do you worship?

is this a retorical question ?

or are you pushing the envelope ?

When?.....I do not consider myself the type that prays consistently, since I feel what I need is already known by my provider.

Whom do I worship?....... my creator

Why?.......gratitude

How ?..... I try to let my actions do my talking in real life

Good question SeptemberMorn! I love questions because they make us stop and think, LOL!!!!

When I pray, I pray to God. I pray to God because He is my father, my creator. I pray because that is how I directly fellowship with Him. Just as talking to friends builds a repor amongst each other, I feel through prayer I do the same with God.

I worship by remaining faithful and fruitful. By faithful I mean holding fast to my faith, never waivering in my belief in Him. By fruitful I mean that I try to live a life that is honoring Him and showing His love through the way I touch others that I come in contact with. He has loved me freely with a most perfect and pure love. And I believe I am to do my best to show the same to others. Which is to be kind, caring, gentle, and above all...loving. The fruit of our lives is shown and reflected in the way we positively effect the lives of others.

Thank you for this question (((September)))). Reminds me that I am to be a great steward of His love!

Why would you ask if I'm pushing the envelope, Coral? When you pray Not at all! Who have you been talking to? When you pray

We're allowed to ask for prayers here and I'm merely wondering who people pray to? We all have a god of some sort or a higher power and I'm wondering who people pray to when and if they don't believe in the God of the Bible. For example, money is a god to some people and they worship it by saving it, attending to it so that it grows, etc.

((((((PDD))))) I know how you feel here......We are forced to speak in generalities.......But I try to speak my heart inspite of it. It's not easy to speak of your spirituality and sweep religion under the rug at the same time is it???? When you pray

I'm scared I'll get yelled out for even saying anything...but here goes:

Depending on my needs...but basically one of 3 goddesses

The usual means is lighting candles, burning incense, and meditating...praying to that particular goddess. Another way is by tending to little things...like taking care of plants, animals, etc. I do have some prayers I say...but only in times of real need when I lose all hope do I use those...they're longer than your basic prayer I guess...lol.

I have a hard time praying to anything male...most likely the direct result of repeated abuse by men. It's funny how your relationships and experiences with men can directly affect your relationship with male gods or anything masculine in the spiritual sense.

I always wondered why they did all those things to me...and why I can't forgive anything male. I guess that's a huge issue for me...to submit to a male figure in any way shape or form.

I'm sorry I rambled...I don't know if anyone has the same problem as me but I guess I wanted to explain why you don't hear me talking about a god too much...

I am not bustin' you here but came to give you a heads up. This is an Egyptian Religion and another one of a name I cannot name is from it...You may want to reword it because DJ could lock said thread like he did the pagan and all the chris*ian ones because..its a religion. Maybe edit some of the names you know with symbols or something. One must be ultra vague in here anymore

(((((TaintedGoth)))))) So sorry to hear about the pain you have had to endure.

I do see however from your post that we have somethings in common. Like caring for all living things, turning to prayer in times of need and desperation, etc.

And many times our life experiences, both good and bad, do effect our spiritual relationship with God.

You're welcome. I don't mind you naming deities myself but um Dr John does. It's very very hard to talk in circles as we are asked. That is why I don't say much. It reminds me of that movie THE VILLIAGE....don't know who saw it but they "spoke of the people they do not speak of"

I pray to God.... Probably not in the same way those of you do who practice the "religion you cannot mentioned".

I also have been known to read the book "whose name you cannot mention". Again, probably not in the same way as those of you who practice the above "not named religion".

But guess what, I still feel spiritual. I love nature and the laughter of children. I take comfort in the starry night sky, as well as finding peace in the silence of a snowfall. I pray for others (and myself When you pray), while listening to the spring birds or while appreciating the beauty of a summer thunderstorm.

All and all, I pray...

I pray for help and guidance. I pray for that elusive sense of peace and understanding I so desperately need because I am watching a loved one, a GOOD, decent person suffer and I can do nothing other than pray.

Now I may not be praying with the same words, or praying to the "right" person in your eyes, but I pray.

And I will continue to pray.

I will pray for all the above mentioned things AND for all the people here who cannot or will not understand that people can have faith and spirituality without having to belong to a certain religion, not even the religion you guys feel you "cannot mention".

Now please, if you feel you are being unduly silenced, if you feel you are being persecuted just for your "certain" religious beliefs then look around. NOONE else on this board who has had their "right" to discuss their certain religious beliefs "taken away" is responding with such unneeded sarcasm and "nudge, nudge, wink, wink" kind of joking. Don't you see that sometimes it is just those types of responses that have caused so much trouble in the past.

It has been suggested in the past and I will suggest it again...… If you feel that you need to discuss in detail your religious beliefs or feel only comfortable asking for prayers from those who practice your own specific religious beliefs than by all means take it too PM (you obviously know who each other are) or take it to BeliefNet. But please, please stop the games......…

PLEASE?????

Sorry.......you can be spiritual and still have a sense of humor. I don't see anyone telling you or anyone else you are right or wrong or that you have to be of a certain religion to be spiritual. I don't believe this thread or anyone's response was intended to be hostile, begrudging, or upsetting. Really not sure where that rant on the end came from?????

But, back to the original questions SeptemberMorn posted.

I pray for many reasons. For insight and knowledge. For the wisdom to put those things into action within myself and my life. I pray for acceptance and tolerance. I pray for patience when anxiety, stress, an emotion run high. I pray for clarity of mind so that negative things and negative people do not pollute my heart and deed. And I pray these things so that I be able to show others, by my actions, that l am a person of love and light. Not of darkness and anger. Because it is my belief that this is what we are all here to do. To love without limits or reservation.

Am I always able to be that person? Undeniably, no. None of us are. But I am continually trying!

God Bless
recluse1

LOL, you know why.

It makes you reply in a way, without mentioning the un mentionable When you pray

Just by mentioning when and if " they don't believe in the bible ", pushes it.........though I don't have a problem at all with the question, thats why I responded

the quoted part was not clear or I'd of not responded, I did not understand it was directed at non bible believers, I believe alot of whats in the bible

Obviously, you don't think anyone prays to money though, I'd hope

attending to money is not a form of worship, pm me, and I will direct you to a place in the bible, were one man was blessed for making his money grow
