Rather than focusing on our differences, we instead embrace love and show kindness towards one another.

There are alot of threads in this forum about peace and growing in spirit; this is a most beautiful start! May each of us be a shining light in the life of another!

For this, I am most thankful!

God bless you and be with you!

Right! Thread for us ALL.... Even if we don't quite understand where someone is at the moment of what their illness is, we can still LOVE them and SHOW them that love. Thread for us ALL....

May we all see the importance of Love and Understanding.

People need people
and friends need friends
and we all need love,
for a full life depends
not on vast riches
or great acclaim,
not on success
or on worldly fame,
but just in knowing
that someone cares
and holds us close
in their thoughts and prayers

For only the knowledge
that we're understood
makes everyday living
feel wonderfully good.

Remember this: "WHO I AM MAKES A DIFFERENCE!"

We have the power to change the world. Even if it's just one person at a time, ourselves! Who we are and how we live makes a difference in the lives of all that come into contact with us. This is important to remember!

You betcha! That's why we need to be careful about how we impact others and what we fill our head and heart with. If we dwell on the negative, then we put out negativity. But if we fill ourselves; our mind, body and spirit with beautiful, possitive things, then that is what we will put out to those we come in contact with. Thread for us ALL....

It's a great thought. Rather lofty though. The spiritually deficit can't change themselves. Thread for us ALL....

But yes, absolutely work on thinking good thoughts! Thread for us ALL....

Yes, I believe everyone can everyone can better themselves as well as the people around them! Being positive, uplifting, and looking for the best in people, and ourselves, is the way to do it.... Thread for us ALL....

I don't think it's lofty... at least not when I know I can't do it 100% of the time... just MOST of the time. Find the possitive in most situations. Thread for us ALL....

I was in the waiting room at the University's neurology clinic, about to see a neurologist for the first time after being diagnosed with familial amyloidosis. I was still in a state of shock and absolutely terrified - knowing what mom went through with this disease. The building was very old, no color on the walls, and only a handful of patients joined me - all moaning and groaning in pain. Thread for us ALL....

A shortbus load of people come in, chaperoned by a social worker. I assumed they were from a group home - they all had sack lunches with them.

A young man and woman sit across from me and start to eat their food. Suzie would take a bite, then look at the young man and say right into his ear "You hit me ina eye - I gonna sheeeetz on you!" Then she'd laugh because she said a dirty word, spilling food out of her mouth. The social worker, without even looking up from her book, calmly said "Suzie, eat your lunch." Thread for us ALL.... Thread for us ALL....

Suzie took a bite of her sandwich, leaned toward the man and said it again - then busted out in laughter. The social worker calmly told her to eat her lunch. After Suzie finished her sandwhich, she repeated the gesture at regular close intervals. Thread for us ALL....

This went on for TWO HOURS! It was a MAJOR test of strength not to laugh right along with Suzie. Thread for us ALL.... I was impressed with the inflection she used with the dirty word, lol. I wanted to explode in belly laughter at the whole situation. In a matter of minutes I had gone from complete and utter dread to wanting to cry from joy and laughter. Thread for us ALL....

By the time I got in to see the neurologist, I was balanced enough to have a rationale discussion with the doctor about my illness. Thread for us ALL....

I wouldn't consider Suzie "spiritually deficient" due to her rude and obnoxious behavior. In fact, I'd love to DO lunch with her sometime. Thread for us ALL.... I found her quite charming - and her laughter was contagious. Thread for us ALL....

((((((KathyM)))))))) LOL!!! Oh my! I wish I could have been there with you! Thanks for sharing your story with me. It is amazing sometimes how the smallest of things can change your day in the biggest of ways.

I was a special olympics volunteer for a couple of years so I can relate well with your story. Even someone with a seemingly simple mind values the imortance of love and laughter!

Some days it takes a little more effort than others to put the right foot forward. It's not how many times we fall down, but how many times we get back up and try again! So long as we continue to strive for it, we have not failed!
