I am so confused with what is and is not allowed in this forum. I though we were not allowed to talk about god - any god. and yet clearly, that is not accurate since there are several posts that do.

There seems to be a pattern on which posts get locked and which are allowed to stay. So much for general spiritual support. Perhaps it should just be renamed "Christian Support" and be done with it. At least there would then be no confusion.

I'm sorry this is confusing to you Kiya....

This is a quote from DocJohn - "We need to go back to the original mandate of the forum -- that it is about spirituality and not specific religions. Discussion -- even positive discussion -- of specific religions or religious doctrine will not be allowed going forward. It is the specific religious talk that seems to cause the most trouble."

We can discuss God or a Higher Power here as it pertains to our spirituality. I hope this helps your understanding.

Those who do not claim or admit to have any specific religion or beliefs seem to be safe because that is the position that seems to have become enforced here. For those who do have clear beliefs and affiliations, and whose manner of talking about spirituality in inseparable from those beliefs and traditions, it is hard because we get in trouble if we say what we believe. So a lot have given up coming here and some are very tentatively trying to find a place. I avoid talking to anyone here who I know doesn't want to hear what I have to say. But it is very confusing.

Thanks Sabby. And yet it is about specific religions - or rather a specific one with direct undertones and symblos in ppls posts.

It actually only aids to the confusion. Pretty much I ban this forum from those i view but every now and then one catches my eye in genuine interest - but ends up only igniting my anger again. One day I will learn to keep my mouth shut. Probably not this lifetime... but one day.

I think it helps to take posts at face value, and not read into them. Using main terms such as God, Spirit, Higher Power, and other such general expressions will allow many members to find something of value within a post, even though the originator might be known to have an underlying religion where they receive their power.

I have to say that although I enjoyed being able to talk about other religions in the past, the peacefulness that has permeated this board since the change has been wonderful!

I really don't believe that the use of God, Spirit or Higher Power lends itself to Christianity. Heck your higher power could be anyone or anything, in fact you don't even have to have one.

Lots of people just discuss their love of nature, beauty, children's laughter, etc. anything that helps them, and may help others refocus their lives.

And others just ask for prayers or good thoughts be sent their way or to the way of others in need......and we all should be able to do that too.

Anyway, the term "spirituality" has many meanings in my book, and without getting specific or being dogmatic, all those meanings are welcome here.

Peace to everyone.

On the contrary. These terms do lend themselves to Christianity. I just prefer to use my Friend/Brother/Savior's personal name. hmmm

We ARE allowed to mention God, just not go into specific religions.
