A da nv do, shine upon me
As I wake in the morning
You are there.
When I lay down my head,
You are there.
To show me direction
To show me the way
When I am down in the valley
You are there.
standing upon the mountian still
You are there.
O Great Spirit,
Shine upon me with grace.

what a beautiful prayer thunderbear.. i had a dream last night that someone would post in Sanctuary about Spirit very soon... interesting how things happen... i often think about how we are all connected in spirit... it's in the music we listen to, the art we contemplate, the hope we share, the care we have for others... i imagine a Spirit which rises above us all, lives within us all, is in everything around us at all times if only we notice..

have a happy day A da nv do--Great Spirit

Tomi, which Psalm? We aren't allowed to post it here, even if it is very similar to what someone else posts, but you can post it on one of the blogs, and share the link.

what a great post to read as i wake each morning and feel the Spirit around me... the true and simple beauty of our Earth alive is so inspiring.. i look outside to the forest and see the serene majesty of a tree which survives many harsh winters, its branches twisted by the forces of nature, a reminder of the powers of natures elements...

i can breathe in the strength of survivor inspiration when i see the small animals scurry about, foraging for nuts and insects to sustain them another day.. i watch as they bathe in the suns rays as they themselves feel the life giving love from our sun..... i take note that they are ever watchful for the hawk above who has his own intentions and instincts to survive..

i wait another day for the great circle of life to unfold itself around me...

Thanks Tomi! It is a little tricky to find. Did you know that you can link to a specific post? If you go to the comments, that's the URL for that post - like this:

http://septembermorn.psychcentral.ne...irit/#comments

God often uses more than one teacher to say the some thing. Maybe because some people will only hear the message when it comes from one source and not another. But the message is for all.

Rap, thanks for posting the link. I enjoyed both the OP's poem and what is in the blog! Two different people, thousands of years apart, both with very similar messages! That is so cool!

Indeed the Spirit can share His messages and His many comforts using many people to carry them.

"To show me direction
To show me the way"

I have always felt that way......
something inside of me so great showing me the way...
leading me threw the best of times the worset of times....
the spirit I see everyday in my childrens eyes..
my dog, my cat, every where i go....
when i look at the mountains my soul is moved....
everyday i sit outside.....everyday at the same time a little bird comes
and sits real close to me....he sings..or talks....so small he is...
I can see and feel the spirit in him......
TY(((thunderbear)))))
this has really got me thinking.......

Thanks for sharing your favorite prayer. I hope that it doesn't offend when I say that its message is the same as one that I believe too, that I have tried to share. I believe that the source is the same, as God or the Great Spirit loves all of His children and is there for all. So many people try to pit "my god" against "your god," without seeing that it is the same god. It's tragic.

Yes, He is there. And for everyone. He will show us the way if we let Him.

Truly, God working through two men thousands of years apart but the same message. No matter where we find ourselves or even if we're trying to hide, God is there, ready, willing and able to help us through whatever obstacles come into our lives.

So be it! A da nv do--Great Spirit

(((Thunder bear))))
Your spirit prayer really moved me.
I kept thinking about it....
It kept bringing memories back.
I could not place it. Today I remember after
looking at a few things of My grandfathers.
My step grandmother as I have said before was Indian.((full blood))
I will not go into the whole thing as this is your thread. ((one that has moved me)) imo
When my grandfather passed on his funeral was done almost mostly Indian.
His spirit was the hawk. He was given that. Every time I see a hawk I can feel him.
The prayer you posted was read there. I knew I knew it.
Most of the ceremony I did not understand as it was done in Indian....
It was done at a funeral home to keep peace in the family I guess....
The prayer was on the card they give out.....I went and looked today.

I want to thank you for posting this.......

I hope this was not to much off topic...
you really moved me thank you

(((everyone)))))

this mornings view is of the craggly old bush emerging from the side of a limestone like cliff.. the rocks crumble away from the rains erosions... some how a little seed caught caught in there and some sun and rain gave it life...

that was long ago.. today the tree is dead.. its roots exposed to open air too long... but it hangs on fiercely, with its own will against the forces of nature...

it knows someday it will fall.. but today, its my beautiful view of Spirit...
