My husband picked him up at the airport last night. The roads were a mess due to a sudden dumping of 6 inches of snow and some 300 flights were canceled, but my son's flight was on time. I stayed home and paced back and forth as I listened to horrible traffic conditions. With my nerves, I wouldn't have been much use to my husband as a passenger. I also wanted to give him some alone time with our son because I knew I'd be hogging him once he stepped into our home.

He brought his board home with him, so after a huge meal he treated me to some of the music he's been producing. I realize I'm biased, being his mother, but it was the most beautiful music. There's no denying he has a gift.

He's home. He's safe, he's sound, and he's thrilled to be a civilian again - no more deployments.

Thank you, once again, for your prayers. Please continue to keep our soldiers fighting abroad in your prayers.

Oh my word, I'm bawling!! I've got goosebumps!! I am so happy for you and your family. Next time you give him a hug, will you add an extra one for me and tell him thank you? I would appreciate that!! Thank God above!

I know just how you feel! My son just got home from his second deployment to Iraq. It is also his last for a least a few years. Congratulation and give your son a big ole' Southern thank you hug from me.

((((KathyM & Son)))))) I am so very happy for you both! Please do me a favor and tell this young man thank you for the bravery and selfless service he has given to his country and those of us back home that enjoy what we have because of soldiers such as himself. We owe them much more than just thank you and prayers but it seems that this is all we can offer from so far away.

God bless you both

Thanks again ((everyone)). It's such a blessing to have him home again. I'd been consumed with worry for so long. It feels like a huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders, especially knowing he won't have to go back. He's spending a lot of time at the studio, and he says it's going well.

I wore myself out the first couple of days but it's fun being "mom" again - even if he is a grown man now. He can still enjoy a good home-cooked meal before he heads out.

We don't typically celebrate Christmas, other than a good family meal together, but that's been postponed. My son will be spending the day with his family at my ex-mother-in-law's home. They've been so anxious to see him, and they are preparing a huge feast for him. If my husband and I weren't so wiped out, we'd go along, but we plan to enjoy the day at home. Knowing mom and my SIL's, our son will come home with a huge plate of food for my husband.

Merry Christmas everyone
