Friends,

Will you support me with prayers?

I am taking a three-week online class to qualify to be an online instructor at another college.

While I have taken six online classes, this is only my third one I have taken. There seem to be a lot of super-talented people in my class.

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed right now. My husband is having a hard time transitioning from getting most of my attention, to a smaller dose.

Thank you for your support -- encouraging notes would be great too!!

EJ

Hi Jinny Ann, Nowhere to Run, and September Morn,

I appreciate your support!!!

Jinny Ann, I have been living in Kansas for 10+ years now. The people here say very little about their accomplishments. I thought my co-learners for this online class were going to be from Kansas too, but they are from all over the country.

I think this class is a bit of culture shock for me, because it seemed like people were bragging about just about everything: how early they got up, how many miles they ran in the morning, how many houses they owned, and travelling to Europe. At least one of the people has a Ph.D.

There is no way of knowing who already teaches for the university, and who else is trying out like me.

There are just a lot of rules to assimilate right now. I think being laid up this summer has affected my confidence a little bit, but I'll be OK.

I know you will do great.

It is probably scary to try something new, or to go a bit beyond your comfort level. But if you think about, that is not only how we grow as a person, but also in our ability to help others.

Plus, don't believe everything another writes about themselves online. I mean except me New opportunity, being the the lost daughter of the last Czar of Russia and all...... New opportunity NOT!

Take care EJ711, you will do fine!

((((EJ)))) I don't want you doubting your abilities now!

You HAVE already taught several classes online, and received rave reviews from your students. Ok, so it's a new college, but is the course different that you'll be instructing there? Are you sure all the other class members have all taught online before, and also received great reviews by the students??? Maybe someone has failed at online teaching and is having to take this course because of that!

You don't have to be the best...but you probably are. New opportunity

LOL EJ - I'd be tempted to respond with "Well, aren't YOU special." New opportunity I doubt students would care about how many houses an instructor owns or how many miles they run. New opportunity

Don't let the others intimidate you. I hope this works out for you. New opportunity

KathyM,

I didn't realize how used I had become to the humble midwesterners. The instructor has behaved most appropriately. It's my co-learners that impress me as being blow-hards.

I got my second assignment in today, and need to get one more completed by midnight. I worked hard on my second assignment, and was pleased with the result. Of course in the beginning everyone is trying to figure out what the instructor is looking for.

Thanks for your note of encouragement.

Life is a big adjustment. New opportunity

Hi EJ,

I just saw your post here.....am praying for your success in th online class. I know how intimidating it can be when the others make themselves sound to wonderful.....some maybe are, but you have talent and skill that others don't have......& that is what you have to keep in your mind.

You are very similar to me.....always giving 200% to everything you do & your quality work reflects that........it shows to others even when we don't seem to realize it ourselves.

My prayers are for your success & also for your self confidence.....but remember to stay the humble person you are....something you don't want to loose even when those around you aren't that way.....that is what makes you the wonderful, successful person you are.

Prayers,
Debbie

Thank you Angel and Debbie for your support!

This class has been an eye opener. After being in Kansas for 10-1/2 years evidently I have adjusted to people's self-effacing ways here. I have wondered what's wrong with these people many times. It is like pulling teeth trying to get any of the natives to talk about any of their accomplishments.

I thought I was going to be with other Kansans in my class, and was shocked to have all these students from other places. I was also shocked they were bragging about their accomplishments and even about getting up early in the morning.

God must have been laughing at my reaction. I was feeling like what's wrong with these people -- they are bragging.

This course feels a bit like a three-week interview. I like everything I am learning about this new university, and am having a hard time not to jump up and down, and say "Pick me! Pick me!"

Oh well I need to go read over the posting guidelines again.

Thanks everyone for your support!
