IT MATTERS TO THIS ONE

As I walked along the seashore, this young boy greeted me. He was tossing stranded starfish back to the deep blue sea. I said, "Tell me why you bother, why you waste your time this way. There's a million stranded starfish, does it matter anyway?"

And he said, "It matters to this one. It deserves a chance to grow. It matters to this one, I can't save them all I know. But it matters to this one, I'll return it to the sea. It matters to this one, and it matters to me."

I walked into the classroom, The teacher greeted me. She was helping Johnny study, he was struggling I could see. I said, "Tell me why you bother, why waste your time this way. Johnny's only one of millions, does it matter anyway?"

And she said, "It matters to this one, he deserves a chance to grow. It matters to this one, I can't save them all I know. But it matters to this one, I'll help him be what he can be. It matters to this one, and it matters to me."

my step sister has RH factory blood.. i recently visited with her after more than 20 years absence.. i remember as a child of 11 or 12 when i first met her.. my dad was just remarrying and mom had just had the DUI wreck.. i was sent to live with my dad cause mom was in the hospital with a broken back...

"Sarah" was the most different person i'd ever met.. she didnt talk like the rest of us, she was hard to understand when she spoke... people teased and picked on her alot...

when i saw her recently i saw that she is still the smiling happy person she always has been despite the harm that takes place around her...

she is a simple person capable of simple tasks that need doing.. she does them with enthusiasm and her own charm... its sad that people dont realize how much they matter.. this girl warmed my heart like no other ever would have been able to... she matters...

her teachers tell her this all the time... its good to see she believes it now but it took a long time... i wish all children could understand their importance.. those who are down now will someday work through their own dilemmas and because of their trials be an inspiration to others... the world so needs to be inspired, we all need to feel inspired to try... those who make it show us it is possible... its important to share our stories ...

Sorry if i am off topic....please forgive me....
When i became pregnet with my daughter. They of course check your blood type. I have O- with RH factor....
Was a shock to me what that meant.....
Someone forgot to tell me in my family. They had to have known as i had been in a car accident when young and other illnesses.
My mom did not have it.
What it meant to me was i had to have a shot to protect the my daughter. So my body would not attacK hers. That in its self is pretty darn sad. After much to do she was born safe....One very big blessing... Really big..she was born emergency c -section
after giving birth had to have another shot. To protect if i had another child. The shots contained mercury....................
I was warned slighly with every birth the risk was greater sometimes for issues with the baby.
Upon becomeing pregnet with my son. Again i had to have the shot to protect him. Maybe 2 shots can not remember now...
There was no choice on how to have him. The c section was arganged((sorry my spelling is off now)))
When he was born with issues ....thats why i was blamed.....
so sorry i really got off topic here
I still would even knowning now would have had him......hes my blessing too
Back then the shots were not explained what they had in them

it matters that every teacher look at every child
and see the worth each child has
It so matters that teacher trys to show each child
how to share, show kindness, and hope
so each child can grow up and share what they

hence spreading a tiny seed ......

i guess i grew up believing i didnt matter .. it wasnt such a concern as a little child.. my needs were met... then i was taught i didnt matter when i was sent to live w/dad after moms DUI... i was taught there that i didnt matter by my abusive step mom.. i was taught that i didnt matter when my dad looked the other way too much...

i was taught i didnt matter by some other members of my family.. there needs always came first for them.. i tried to hold it al together but i couldnt....

when dad said i wasnt his son anymore, i figured i ddint matter... when i became a ward of two state at the age of 15, i figured i didnt matter...

after some troubles at school, i was sent away, and didnt matter...

when i found work, the only thing that mattered was that i show up, but i didnt matter...

when my heart broke when i lost my son, i didnt matter... when i tried over and over again... it didnt matter...

my son matters... i choose health for the sake of his good name...

As every child matters and the adults or the ppl in control should show that. So every person ,every child knows they matter........

muffy i was wondering if i could yous your poems for my in service training for my teachers... sometimes they get discouraged... and i have heard them question why what they do matters so much...your words are very uplifting and encouraging...lyn

they are with our kids along part of the day.

Sometimes kids have (No where To run ) but to thier teachers
