"Good friend, take to heart what I'm telling you;
take my advise and guard it with your life.
Tune your ears to the world of Wisdom;
set your heart on a life of Understanding.
That's right—if you make Insight your priority,
and won't take no for an answer,
Searching for it like a prospector panning for gold,
like an adventurer on a treasure hunt,
Believe me, you'll have come upon the knowledge of God."

Dietrich Bonhoeffer:

To understand reality is not the same as to know about outward events. It is to perceive the essential nature of things. The best-informed man is not necessarily the wisest. Indeed there is a danger that precisely in the multiplicity of his knowledge he will lose sight of what is essential. But on the other hand, knowledge of an apparently trivial detail quite often makes it possible to see into the depth of things. And so the wise man will seek to acquire the best possible knowledge about events, but always without becoming dependent upon this knowledge. To recognize the significant in the factual is wisdom.

You are talking apples and oranges here, Sky. My quote is centered around this statement: "set your heart on a life of Understanding."

Yours is wrapped up in this statement: And so the wise man will seek to acquire the best possible Knowledge about events,

We may have great knowledge but if we don't have understanding, then that knowledge is usless to us (i.e. the theory of relativity. We all KNOW the theory of relativity, but we don't UNDERSTAND it. That makes the knowledge useless).

Besides, would you argue with the wisdom of Solomon? Making Insight Our Priority Making Insight Our Priority Knowing you, yeah, you probably would! Making Insight Our Priority
