I have recently started therapy. I am also doing this new therapy that includes meditation. I'm pretty new at this and I am hoping it gets better in time. I like to relax its just get certain thoughts out of your head. I guess it will just take practice the more you do it the better you get!

What kind of meditation do you use? I think meditation would help my anxiety issues, but I have such a hard time with focusing on 'relaxing.'

Meditation rocks!! It's great you're incorporating this into your treatment. And you're absolutely right that the more you do it the better you get at it. Good luck to you! (((((greywolf))))

might one ask if you have started a DBT group therapy ? we do have a support group for those familiar with or using DBT , in Tuesday mornings,, check your calendar to see the time,, you would be more than welcome,, we do a little mindfullness/relaxation exercise at the beginning or more often , the end of each one. best wishes,, Gus

To start with I bought a book called "Path of the white wolf" by: Robin Tekwelus Youngblood and Sandy D' Entremont

The book comes with a meditation cd and it talks you through it. Maybe you could give it a try?

No I haven't I'm not sure what DBT is. I have started a therapy called EMDR besides my regular therapist. I'm new to this but if I can find my way i will be there. Thanks Gus

Hi Greywolf, I've benefitted from a type of meditation called Vipassana. It doesn't matter what type you use, I think. It does gradually build an ability to calm the mind. Sometimes, it's soothing to me to listen to teacher talks with guided meditation on audio files, when my mind's too jumpy for straight meditation.
