I just got a call from my mother in law . My husbands uncle and aunts house burned down last night. His uncle died in the fire. His aunt got out ok, her husband had helped her. But then when he tried , he fell and couldnt get out. He was the oldest of the 15 siblings in my father in laws family and the first to die.

Please give me the strength to tell my husband today. He was very close to this part of the family.

Thank You (((((((( Sabby)))))))) This family has been thru so much, just breaks my heart that their dad had to go this way. He was a good guy,a product of the US Navy, a father of 10, married to his wife for 60+ yrs. I cant even begin tot count the number of grandkids and great grandkids. Used to tease him that he and his wife produced bunnies lol. Always got a big smile out of him for that one.

Hon, I'm glad you can remember the good times and funny things right now. That is so important in getting through this difficult time. Sounds like he was doing everything he could to help his wife get out....a man who helped his loved ones....what an awesome way to be remembered.

This is so true Sabby. I am going to hunt for the picture of Uncle Jim and my husband dancing at Uncle Jim daughters wedding reception. That was one of my best memories of him. I can see so much of Uncle Jims sense of humor in my husband. Just that ornery fun type ya know? Very thankful for these good memories..

Thanks Bebop, it was quite the shock . I've been in this melancholy like mood most of today. I think a few tears fell in the peaches.. guess those are tears of love right? sigh...

Thank you Muffy. Yes life is precious. Need to be as full of life as we can and enjoy it. I think this was his last hurrah.. There's been times in his life, he wasnt such the hero, but this time , he really stepped up and did his very best. Life got him down at times. Did not make him a bad person. Just had issues like most of us. But a good man non the less. Its going to be a hard transition for this family.

Thanks NWTR... Its going to be a hard week . Hubbys Aunt is in the hospital being treated for smoke inhalation and she also fell on her back when she got out the window. We have no idea when the funeral will be yet. They just had it on the nightly news, windows all boarded up, guess the kids went over to do that. Just so sad.
