So I've been feeling really distant from my faith lately... I miss the warmth, comfort and sense of security that my belief instilled in me. Part of that is because, I think, I am SO intellectual, so it's difficult for me to just "believe." I have a warm and loving church community, but even as I'm re-connecting with it, there's a part of me that's still distant, that doesn't want to give myself over to faith... it's tough.

Have you guys struggled with this, and if so, how did you keep your own faith strong, or re-discover it?

I know we're not supposed to talk about specific religious texts or anything on here, so if you've advice pertaining to that sort of thing, just PM me.

Thanks so much, all

Yes, I am a "scientist" and a "philosopher" and I have often struggled with my faith. I keep coming back though and do not spend much time wondering why I "wandered" in the first place.

In my opinion, God(not knowing what denomination/faith you practice) is not as hard on me as I am on myself.......

I wonder if it would help to know that no matter where you go, spiritually or existentially, He is is right there beside you?

As long as I live my life to the best of my ability, regardless of my religious/dogmatic faith at the time, I know I am loved, unconditionally.......

Be forgiving and loving of yourself and others and you shall experience divinity........

Muse, check out the Social Groups. I know of two that discuss personal beliefs and religions. You might find what you're looking for there since they don't have the same restrictions that this forum has.

I find music, movies, books, and even reading what people have experienced here deeply, deeply moving, to ignite a flame for your spiritual growth...it is amazing what the human spirit can come through, still intact, and wanting, craving to believe, that there were angels all the way along, pointing us to this moment now, when a human being reaches out to another human being, with an open, honest heart

I remember when I first went a way to college and my head was exploding with all the new and exciting stuff I was being exposed to I took a moment to write my grandmother. I was question some of my childhood teaching. My grandmother being the wise old bird she was, didn't reply to my letter with a bunch of fancy quotes from her Bible. She instead embraced my budding intellectualism and sent me a book that was an intellectual/pragmatic look into Christanity. This was a very interesting book to read. I think it was call Meer Christanity by CS Lewis. Hopefully I'm remembering the correct book.

Chaotic13, I'll have to look that up... Mr. Lewis is one of my favorite authors. SeptemberMorn, I'll take a look into those groups. They're new since I last visited PC, so I'm still getting a grip on how to use them.

Everyone, thank you so much for you kindness and support. You all are incredibly caring individuals... thank you.
