Does anyone here find they laugh at inappropriate times? It's really embarrassing for me when I do it, and it's hurtful to other people, but I literally can't help it, it just comes out, even when I don't find something funny. This happens especially when someone I know gets hurt. I was wondering if this was common with SZA.

I also laugh at inappropriate times. I laugh when my therapist gets upset with me and I laugh even harder when she says that she is serious I don't get along with her. When I am trying not to laugh at my therapist, I try to think of a sad thought, and then I still laugh even harder. I end up hurting other people's feeling sometimes when I laugh at an inappropriate time. Also, when someone asks for a moment of silence, I can't help it but to laugh.

I have SZA. It might be common for this disorder.

I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble with it. I hope you find a way for it to stop for you.

I have that problem sometimes to though mine is more laughing for no reason in particular... I'll laugh if I feel nervous sometimes but I think that's common for anyone. I guess it could be something common for sza though my laughing issue isn't as bad.

i laugh at inappropriate times all the time. my wife gets pretty mad at me when i do. i find things funny that probably shouldn't be, but i can't help it. whether it's common in sza or not, i don't know. inappropriate laughter is common in schizophrenia in general, however.

I've read that inappropriate laughter can be an issue for schizophrenia proper so I think it makes sense that it would happen with schizoaffective as well.

I have this issue a lot, it's really weird & as you said it can be very embarrassing.
