I was just diagnosed with schizoaffective and was wondering if any drugs have worked to silence, completely, voices in your head. They fight me all the time, and I can't handle it. They project energy into my head too, thoughts, and negative judgements. Its like some of them are demons trying to make me evil. I am a super caring, and deeply spiritual person. If anything has worked to remove them completely I have to know!!!!!! Please help.

I wish I could help. Invega helped me a bit, then Zyprexa. Seroquel left me "comatose". But none completely took away the paranoia and supernatural experiences for me. They faded on their own over 6 months when I had weened myself off meds (paradoxically). I had to resume meds 6 months later when my mood symptoms got bad enough to seek relief.
I'm not recommending going off meds. Just saying that nothing really worked for the voices for me. Demons still abound - an ongoing battle.

Hi. I've been taking quetiapine (Seroquel) for six months and I can say the voices almost completely disappeared. They do pop up once in a while, but nothing as bad as before. It's easier to deal with them, certainly.

I'm on latuda the voices stopped with therapy and insisting on countering them with 'shut up!' And a positive line of thinking. Also distractions, playing solitary,tv,reading. Good luck

Admittedly I had that experience at the start of a psychotic episode, and my brain wasn't completely fried at that stage. Its good to know I'm not alone in experiencing this.

I used to be on seroquel for the "psychosis", but no matter how high the dose was, it didn't get rid of the voices. So I am now on Risperdal and it's been doing pretty well, but the side effects have been worse the higher the dose, but the lower the dose it doesn't do it's job any more. So I'm getting my bloods done in a few weeks to see if I can still keep taking it.
If not, I'm supposed to be switching to Abilify. |

The Seroquel that I take quiets the hallucinations almost completely for me. I also have been recently diagnosed.

Thank you everyone for you input. The best thing I have found to deal with the voices has been to befriend them. That and a visualisation technique that projects them becoming quieter and quieter. Distraction of attention also works well. The meds I am on seem to do very little to nothing. I have tried olanzapine, abilify, and now I am on risperidone. Still nothing works. Whenever I have a thought about them though, like a positive one it seems to change them. I had some very negative ones for awhile, but befriending and being nice to them seems to help. I also get a very good feeling from it too. To tell you the truth I would miss some of them if they were gone.

Geodon started the beginning of the quietness, now I'm on Latuda. Distraction helps a lot,tv,music, solitaire on my phone.

Abilify got rid of them completely for me to the point where I'm now going off the meds for a trial. I am just psychosis though, just wanted to let you know there is hope.
