I am on zyprexa and just started taking paxil ( other meds too ). What is your story with these two drugs? I have found that the Zyprexa is very helpful but I still have disorganized thinking. My Psychiatrist said that paxil will help organize my thought. I am on day 2.

I'm also taking Zyprexa and Paxil. Zyprexa made me gain enormous amount of weight. Paxil (or both... I'm not too sure) has plummeted my sex drive. So far so great because I haven't had to go to the hospital in a while so that's a plus. With Paxil, as any other anti-depressant, it takes a while to kick in.

I am no longer taking either but here is my review.

Paxil - Miracle anti anxiety, anti-depressant. However my sex drive came to a screaching halt.
Zyprexa - Extremely sedating. No weight gain for me.

The zyprexa put me at a healthy weight, I was 110lbs before I went into the hospital and I am five feet seven inches tall. I am anxious to see how the paxil works.

All I hear about Paxil is that it makes you tired and fat.

Wiki says: "When both published and unpublished trials are looked at, paroxetine does not appear to be any better than placebo in adults with moderate or severe depression."

But wiki does say: "Paroxetine inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine more than the other SSRIs, just as sertraline inhibits the reuptake of dopamine more than the other SSRIs." So ya I'm guessing that's why it helps with disorganized thought.

I take Zyprexa.
It made me gain 20 pounds, but I haven't gained anymore.
I eat a lot more when I'm on it. It's been a pretty good anti-psychotic.
And I've never touched Paxil.

Never tried Paxil, so I can't review it. Zyprexa has been sort of a miracle drug for me. It keeps me from depression. I still hallucinate and am paranoid, though; however, my new therapist told me that I need a higher dose, so maybe at a higher dose the psychosis would go away.

I've been on Zyprexa. For me it didn't work at all and just made me gain weight. But, everyone's different and respond to medications differently.
