Hello everybody. I was just diagnosed with schizo affective about 10 days ago. I'd like to get more info on what it is, how its treated, and anything else that may be relevant. Can anyone please point me in the direction of a useful website or something of the sort. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness - Mental Health Support, Education and Advocacy Has some good information. They also have a forum, support, and information on local chapters of nami.

I have a question on what I've been reading. A psychiatrist awhile ago diagnosed me as bipolar with psychotic tendencies and now I'm being diagnosed schizoaffective bipolar type. What's the difference? Don't both have issues with mood and hallucinations. I could prob ask my Dr at my next appt. Just wondering if someone could give some insight in the meantime.

Bipolar with psychotic tendencies is when you have hallucinations and delusions during a mood episode. Schizoaffective Bipolar type is when the hallucinations and delusions are apart from mood episodes.

OK. So it might be schizoaffective if the hallucinations happen basically every day?
