Ive been attempting to ignore a high pitched sound and a commanding voice saying if I vomit the noise will stop. this has happened on two different occassions only in my bathroom. now im in my bed and the noise is here with a headache, and the voice is yelling at me. I want to throw up so bad so it will shut up. but if I keep doing this, ill never gain any weight. what the hell is this? I dont have weight issues, other than I cant keep it on, or body image issues. this is annoying. blocking techniques anyone?

Hello smilesandcries: Personally I dislike speculating with regard to what is causing people to experience symptoms of one sort or another. We don't have enough information to make any kind of useful suggestion. And it's really not our role here anyway, at least as I see it. I really think, if this is something that is of concern to you, & I presume it is since you posted about it here, you should see a mental health professional. Do you currently see a therapist or psychiatrist? If so, have you discussed this with them? What have they told you?

Stress can sometimes play a role in various mental health conditions. Even if anxiety is not the cause of the symptom, it can make whatever symptoms a person is experiencing worse. Plus, stress / anxiety can be compounded by worry. First you begin to worry about your symptoms. Soon you also begin to worry about the fact that you are worried or stressed out. It can add up to a kind-of snowball effect. If worry over what you are experiencing is causing you to feel stressed out, then anything you can do to relax may be helpful. Such things as exercise, meditation, doing fine dexterity work with your hands such as in pursuing a hobby can be helpful. I imagine you've heard all about this sort of stuff before.

for the telling you to vomit, ask it something clever and make it admit its deceptive.
for the tone, get coal tar soap, put it on your ears and cheeks (outside)
then get a foot smoothing pumice stone, get the dust in your hair and on body
scented wax on metal/glass.
the sound is movable, and broadcast around the head, using bone and teeth and hearing. use mental movement techniques and throw off the sound resonance
i did these things and they work the longest.
also buy a roll of weedblock fabric hang on walls, the voices and tones use nearby vents and appliances to match sounds

I have reason to believe this is not a psychiatric symptom. I do not currently see a therapist or psychiatrist, as there is no reason for it & wastes my time.
thank you insilence. im heading to the hardware store.
