Hello PC Family,
I wanna know something. I am being diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder due to me being extremely paranoid and experiencing manic episodes when being put in certain situations. This really limits my life because I can't go anywhere without someone escorting me. If I am alone then my mind begins playing tricks on me, someone is gonna get me. Besides that....I just would like to know why are some of you diagnosed with this schizoaffective disorder, and how it affects your life. I just wanna feel as if others can relate, because I feel alone.

hi
i dont have schizoaffective but saw your post hadnt been answered and you were feeling alone and didnt want that feeling perpetuated here.

i know about mania being triggered in certain situations. i have ptsd as well. as well as my bipolar is controlled thru meds, if my ptsd is triggered, then a mania will be triggered and i go off the rails. i run up my charge cards, spend all my money. last time i put all the home shopping networks on my tv line up and opened up accounts with every one of them. the secretary at work said it was like christmas with all the packages that were coming into the office for me. i took out a 10k loan. i hate that life becomes so unmangeable when i work so hard going to therapy twice a week and take my meds every day to be stable and one little thing can trigger so much chaos in my life.

so you are not alone. know that.

I was diagnosed bipolar. Then schitzoaffective disorder, Bipolar type. I had been suffering for years until December 2014. Now I'm on lithium and my delusions I think are about totally gone. I get paranoid from time to time. But I had a lot of manic and psychosis which lead to my diagnosis...some crazy delusions, hearing things, impulse, hypersexuality.....the list is endless

I was having persistent hallucinations and delusions (?) which I think may not have been that delusional. Sorry, I'm in a weird state of mind at the moment. At any rate, I wasn't manic or depressed, so my pdoc changed my bipolar to schizoaffective. The diagnosis itself doesn't do anything. The symptoms of the illness do a variety of things, rarely good.

I had a schizophrenic episode where I had hallucinations and thought I was someone else. This was followed by a deep and prolonged depression, which is how I got my schizoaffective Dx. It is kept well under control with medication and I can lead a normal life again.

Mostly because I will start having delusions when I'm not manic or depressed. Like yesterday...I felt the delusions starting...but they went away as soon as I was with my friend. So it wasn't able to get worse. So I can relate to needing to be around people. Mostly because people will help you reality check. But I am worried that the delusions will kick back up pretty soon later on...like it's only a matter of time, and it worries me that I was having some paranoid delusions just yesterday.

I have schizoaffective disorder. I also feel people are going to get me..I cant be out by myself or I will freak out..I also do deal with hallucinations(both seeing and hearing unusual things) every now and then..My meds kinda helped with the frequency of that

When I was about 2 I was outside with my mom and aunt and saw a man on a ladder doing house work..I started freaking out and saying "Mommy, mommy, that man is going to get us" That was the first time my parents knew something was wrong.

I had two psychotic episodes where I was hallucinating and having paranoid delusions. But I've been symptom free on anti-psychotics and anti-depressants for just over 4 years. I even got off disability and found a great job where I've been working for just over 7 months now.
Thanks for this!
