ive taken various tests and my results say im highly schizofrenal. soo if theres anyone out there who really knows about this, please help me. lately i keep thinking that theres someone following me, i see and hear random things all the time. and worst of all theres this one voice in my head. i named her danny. is that normal? that i named a voice in my head and i practically think shes my best friend? well that voice, danny, comes up in my dreams and thoughts all the time saying "kill them." i think shes referring to my parents.... because they make me so angry, probably more than an average person. and well Dannys always coming up, talking to me, telling me to do things. kids at school are starting to notice me talking to myself and.. i just dont know if this is normal. i have almost every schizo symptom. soo.. advice?

There is a high chance you have schizophrenia. Please, get a professional opinion and update us on how it goes. Take care.

Only sounds normal..for scizophrenia.

You can be angry enough at someone and hate them to the point where you don't care if they die..... But to have a voice in your head that actually tells you to kill people isn't normal. I'm guessing while at school you don't see anyone else talking to themselves..right? Might want to get help before it gets worse.

I don't know how old you are but..you might even be able to get help without your parents or anyone knowing...if that's a problem for you. Start with asking your regular doctor. Call the nearest mental help place and just ask them. I think a lot of teens would get help with more stuff if they weren't embarassed and wanted to keep people from knowing.

Sounds like it could be schizophrenia based on what you've said. Getting voices telling you what to do is one of the signs. Thinking you're being followed could suggest paranoia.

Do you have access to a psychiatrist? Or at the least, could you tell your regular doctor to get a referral? If it is schizophrenia, you'll need care. Please seek help. You deserve to feel better than you have been.

jayy46: danny, comes up in my dreams and thoughts all the time saying "kill them." i think shes referring to my parents.... because they make me so angry, probably more than an average person.

Unlike the others, I don't think you're necessarily schizophrenic and I'm very loathe to pin that kind of label on a person because it's a difficult label for people to live with in this culture.

However, you do seem to feel angry with your parents. This isn't all that unusual for someone in their teens. I would suggest you take a bit of time to yourself and see if you can pinpoint what you're angry about. Maybe you feel they're not understanding enough. Maybe you feel they're too controlling. Maybe you feel they don't listen. Maybe you feel they're too busy to pay any attention to you. Maybe you don't like the way they live their lives. Maybe you feel they're angry with you. Maybe it's something else I haven't thought of.

If you can figure out why you're angry, that's a starting point. Next, you need to figure out what to do with the anger so you can resolve it in a way that's mutually beneficial, i.e. a way that doesn't get you hurt or them hurt either. For example, you might be able to find a way to talk with your parents about some of the things you're upset about. If you can't talk to them, you might be able to write to them. As an alternative, you might ask them to go with you to see a therapist, counsellor or other form of mediator so you can work on resolving the issues between you.

Meantime, the mere fact that you have given a name to a stream of thoughts in your head isn't necessarily an indication that you're schizophrenic -- it could simply be a way of you organizing your thought processes. Lots of people refer to their "Inner Child" for example, or their "Critical Parent" or even, "Their Inner B;tch". Maybe you call this part of you that is angry or hurt, "Danny" and by "talking to" this part of yourself it helps you understand what you're angry and hurt about.

To recap, I suggest that...

- You try to figure out what you're angry or hurt about
- Try to figure out a way you can share that with your parents
- If you don't think you can do that, try to find someone else who might be able to help you do that like a counsellor or therapist.

Your school may be able to recommend a therapist or counsellor to you. If you'd prefer to find one on your own, you can make use of a search engine. Searching for the terms "mental health+adolescence+anger+your city/town" would probably do the trick. You could also try talking with your family doctor or another trusted adult such as an aunt, uncle or grandparent. There may also be mental health hotlines in your community or city where you can call and talk to someone, often anonymously, who can point you in the direction of some local resources. Hopefully, that will be a starting place for you.

There are two instances however where you should seek immediate help:

#1: If you want to hurt yourself.
#2: If you want to act on your thoughts and hurt someone else.

In either of those two instances you should seek immediate help from another trusted adult or a professional such as an emergency room doctor.

Best of luck to you, jayy.

I don't necessarily think you have schizophrenia. Sometimes things of a spiritual nature can communicate with us. If that is the case, let "Danny" know that you are not going to kill anyone--and that you never would. It is possible that that would be enough to get it to stop harrassing you. Nonetheless, you should probably seek the help of a therapist at least.

That maybe true..but even suggesting that an evil spirit is trying to make you kill your parents and bringing it up to a therapist could get someone put in a mental hospital. So uh be careful going along with that theory.
