I apologize if this is in the wrong place, but I thought I may get a better response than if it were in the "drugs" or the "anxiety" section.

I am pretty sure its common to have severe anxiety due to the beliefs and "delusions" etc... So is it common to treat that anxiety as a separate symptom, even though its based off the conditions of schizophrenia or similar conditions? Or is it more common to focus on the major symptom to eliminate the "smaller" ones.

I am on 6mg of Invega, and wondered if was normal to mix anti psychotics with anti anxiety meds. The Invega does a decent job, but it would be nice to be able to go out and do normal things without having to do it based off a "need to do" basis and more from a "want to do" scenario.

Thanks,

i have schizoaffective and i take klonopin with lithium. it helps a lot. i don't know if it's "common" or not, and i know a lot of benzos interact with the antipsychotics. you could always ask your pdoc, or maybe write down the last sentence of your post and show that to him/her. good luck!

I only take klonopins for my schizoaffective. It honestly doesn't help that much. It just takes the edge off, but it's my choice to not take antipsychotics or any other drug.
I've been prescribed a lot of antipsychotics along with klonopins or xanax so I think it's common..

.
I take Cogentin and Xanax (as needed) for side effects like anxiety caused by Geodon and Wellbutrin. I'm also on Depakote and Adderall. The Xanax really helps when I get agitated and restless.
