My roommate has schizophrenia..and he seems so wrapped up in himself and does not seem to care for other people..why are some people with schizophrenia like that, emotionally 'flat' or cold and SEEMINGLY unfeeling, while others seem to be able to express emotion and be caring people? My roommate is a decent person...I wish life could be better for him..BTW I have schizoaffective disorder.

its an imbalance of the chemicals in the brain problem. They don't understand those things because they are not processing the information needed to understand. medication corrects the chemical imbalance so the brain can process those types of thoughts and actions and function appropiately. it is not something they have control of with out medication.
