I have some questions for those of you that hear voices.
One: Whould you saythe majority of your voices are male or female? Or there any that you not sure of their gender?
Two: Are your voices mostly heared inside your heads or do you hear them as you would hear a person talking to you?
I know my voices are mostly internal. Most are male. though once in a while it will be female.

Thanks for sharing!

Before starting Geodon

1. most of my voices were male, some sounded sexless or no certain gender
2. most of my voices were outside of me, some maybe 25% were inside my head

After starting Geodon

They are mostly like background music now...I hear them, i know they are there, but they are like way off in the distance or like muted sounding. Thank God for Geodon!!!

The gender can go either way. Sometimes it's a male voice, other times it sounds more like my mother. It hasn't happened in years, thankfully. The voices were always outside my head, like they were just in the room with me.

Mainly male, internal voices. But for some reason, when I hear a female voice, it is almost always external. I'm at a loss of how to explain that one. Hahaha They don't happen to me a lot thankfully & it's been a while. I mainly just hear weird nosies as if someone is shuffling about or doing something around the house & weird mechanical/electrical noises.

The voices for me can go either way, but usually female. I suppose for me it would be internal...but it would be a "loud" internal, if that makes sense. Like, I'd hear the voice inside my head, but it would be loud enough to make me check my surroundings to make sure nobody was speaking to me in reality.

Before Risperidone:

Sexless voices, hard to determine the gender. External as if there was someone in the room talking to me.

For 2 years after starting risperidone:

None that I was aware of. Whenever I heard something it was always when I was teaching, so I assumed it was high school students pulling tricks on me. And they were different than before.

Now:

I think I may need to up my dose again. Sexless voises are back, but not distinct. They are still external. It sounds like I am in a crowded room with everyone talking at once.

Usually sounds like a woman, since I've been on meds mainly in my head. Sometimes I hear the voices in other languages, and those ones are usually male. For some reason I hear them more in my left ear than my right. Or at least, that has been the case recently.

Since the meds I occasionally hear random external voices, but they're generally speaking not abusive anymore.

I hear both male and female voices (not as much as a few weeks ago) but the whispering I can't determine the sex of the voice. I hear both my family talking and the government. They are mostly external like someone is in another room talking but not loud enough where it is right behind me but sometimes it has been that loud. I can't tell the difference between the voice and people really talking. Since increasing my med the voices and visual hallucinations mostly stopped. Was scary for a month.

Mine are male, female, and a young boy. I would say about 80% external, 20% internal.
The external voices voices are usually coming from an object in the room for some reason, and I don't like this. However the internal voices are much more mean or bossy, and I will interact with them, but I don't interact with the external ones.

Mine are familar voices of my family that love me and the ones that verbally abuse me. Male and female. Sometimes I can't tell if the others are male or female and they are not a familiar voice. Likely though I have not experniced this in a long time. I took abilify when this happened and it really did the trick. I hope they don't come back. I am sorry that anyone has to go through this.

1) Genderless voices mostly. Occasionally male. Distorted background gurgling nattering, and very distinct harsh metallic sounding voices.
2) The nattering background voices sound like they are in a room inside my head, but impossible to place positionally. The clear voices usually address me directly and speak into one or other ear. Once a voice shouted into my left ear and it ached for half an hour afterwards. Weird!

This EXACTLY describes what I've been going through, most of the time now! Just this random indistinguishable room in my head that sounds like it's dozens of feet behind me. That is the strangest sensation in the world. I've always heard the random metallic noises/voices & it's almost like my teeth hurt when I hear them... I have sensory processing disorder as well, & hearing metallic noises gives me incredibly horrific chills.
Thanks for this!

Mine are mostly male or satanic in nature.
The ones who scold me are inside my head.
But I've heard things like people arguing in other rooms, etc outside my head.

Mine are mostly male... There is one girl but she doesn't like to talk a lot. And honestly, it's mostly internal but sometimes I'll hear them say things outside of my head. That's a rare occassion, though.

And like many who've said this, they are driving me crazy!

Today I had a couple of female voices - women in their 20s or early 30s - commenting on what I was doing. It was ridiculous! Whatever one said, the other would say again. It was like Thomson and Thompson in skirts! When I told them to shut up and **** off, they commented to each other that "he's getting angry" "he's getting very angry".
While the voices weren't sounding like someone in the room with me that I could hear with my ears, I had no doubt that they were different from my own thoughts - they were being broadcast into my head. It is really beginning to get to me - not the voices and what they say, but that I can't seem to protect the privacy of my thoughts.

Oh, I know how that is... Have you ever had images broadcasted into your mind? They do that a lot sometimes too. It's' getting terribly frustrating not being able to have any thoughts to myself. They always have a smart *** comment to say to everything I think.
Thanks for this!

before thorazine and risperdal i had voices inside my head, 1 good voice, 1 paranoid voice, and 10 bad voices. i thought there were worms in my brain making them talk to me. the good voice changed gender, the paranoid voice was male, and the bad voices were genderless. I got put on risperdal and the voices mostly disappeared, and then i got put on thorazine which cleared up most of it. but now i'm hearing what sounds like a crowd talking and i can't make out what they're saying, my therapist says its because i'm under stress.
EDIT: i also occasionally hear someone narrarating everything i do in third person. its super annoying
Thanks for this!

I really hope not. I live in images. I have to translate my thoughts into words. If they are planting images into my mind I'm totally screwed. I was hoping to have some protection by not thinking in words.
